OHIO APR IL 2004 U.S. World Cup Team Selected Overland Park, Kansas. April 4--ln a full day of racing, the U.S. team for the World Cup competition in Naumburg , Gennany , May I and 2 emerged . The day's racing included men's and women's events at 20 Km and junior men 's and women 's events at IO Km. Joining the team will be the men selected at an earlier 50 Km trial. The team includes five men and women at 20. five men at 50. and three juniors at IO for both men and women .. Today . Tim Seaman and Joanne Dow were easy winners in the two 20 Km races held on a 2 Km lap course . The women's race was dominated by veteran walkers with vast international experience . Joanne Dow , a couple of weeks past her 40th birlhday and a member of three Woorld Cup and two World Championship teams in the past, took command early in the race, dropping Teresa Vaill by 5 km and holding a 42 second lead as she passed JO km in 46:21. Content with the win. she didn't push for time and finished in I :34:44 , more than two minutes ahead of Vaill. Vaill, 41 , has been on six World Cup teams, dating back to 1985. She struggled over the second halfofthe race, but was still well clear of Michelle Rohl.

    Dal Libro La coordinazione motoria – presupposti scientifici e metodi di valutazione- di Francesco Marcello edizioni Nuova Cultura Roma, il paragrafo: • La scuola italiana di velocità È difficile, nel nostro paese, poter affermare che esiste una scuola in uno dei tanti ambiti che afferiscono alle attività motorie e sportive. La difficoltà è legata a numerosi fattori, in primis il fatto che il lungo periodo che va dalle olimpiadi di Roma ai giorni nostri, è stato caratterizzato dall’impossibilità a svolgere un’attività di ricerca sistematica collegata all’attività di campo. Una scuola richiede dei maestri e degli allievi che si riconoscano intorno ad un progetto comune. L’unica realtà italiana alla quale è stata riconosciuta la capacità di aver creato un fermento culturale somigliante a quello di una vera e propria scuola è quella rappresentata dal settore velocità della federazione italiana di atletica leggera. L’impianto ruota intorno ad alcuni personaggi chiave: il prof. Carlo Vittori, nato ad Ascoli il 10 marzo del 1931 e i maestri di Sport Alessandro Donati e Pasquale Bellotti. Ai tre vi sono da aggiungere allenatori e studiosi che si sono avvicendati nella collaborazione con la struttura di Formia (Scuola Nazionale di Atletica Leggera) dove Vittori ed i suoi collaboratori avevano stabilito il loro quartier generale. I nomi sono quelli di Carmelo Bosco, figura fondamentale e atipica di scienziato dello sport, nato sul campo e specializzatosi in Finlandia accanto a fisiologi come Viru A., e Luhtanen P.H. Bosco è deceduto nel 2003 lasciando un vuoto difficile da colmare. Il biochimico Gian Martino Benzi, i tecnici Paolo Fiorenza, Plinio Castrucci, Ennio Preatoni, Ida Nicolini, Adolfo Rotta, Giovanni Lai e Roberto Bonomi.
