Unfortunately, professional firefighters aren't just fighting fires anymore. They wage a constant battle against street gangs, budget shortfalls and professional rivalries.

ILLIONS OF us longed to be firefighters when we grew up. None of us escapes the sound of their sirens. All of us expect the firefighter to be ready if and when our lives are at stake in a burning home or office.
