Payment due upon registration. Check your receipts! Confirm your program/trip, date, times, locations, meal choices, etc. by verifying your receipt. Receipts may be sent via email, USPS (50¢ fee), or pick-up in person. “Register by” dates are necessary so that we can meet the deadlines given to us by various venues and vendors. Of course, if the “register by” date has passed, don’t hesitate to call 630-969-0992 to check the status, as we frequently have cancellations resulting in open seats. Emergency contact cards are available at our office if you wish to provide us with that information. Home pick-ups are available to Lisle and Cameo residents for a $5 fee. Select this option during registration. Refund policy - If the Lisle Park District cancels a trip, a full refund will be credited to your park district account. If you cancel, giving at least two business days notice and the space can be resold, a full credit less a $2 service charge will be applied to your household Lisle Park District account; however, we cannot guarantee a resale. If you should prefer a refund to your charge card or receive a check, just let us know. Trip & Program Guidelines Parking for days trips is conveniently located just across the sidewalk in the Community Center parking lot or Barb Marciniak in the middle of the Senior Center parking lot. This gives you easy exit upon our return and frees up the front Administrative Assistant spots at the Senior Center for patrons visiting the center throughout the day. Also, refrain from parking in lots 630-969-0992 not owned by the Lisle Park District. [email protected] Review your receipt – Receipts are important! Be sure to verify all the information that is contained on the receipt, and contact us immediately with any changes or discrepancies. Trips must depart promptly! Please plan to arrive 10 minutes prior to departure to allow for adequate time for check-in and bus loading. Limit the use of perfumes or colognes when traveling with us or participating in park district events to be sensitive to those who may have significant allergies. This free exhibit ends October 20, 2017. Preparing for Your Epic Art Adventures Before you start on your Epic Self-Guided Tour, you will want a few things: 1) a brochure, 2) this handy Minivan Adventures route guide, and 3) a GPS navigation tool. Get a free copy of the Epic Art Adventures brochure online at EpicArtAdventures.com or in-person at the Elkhart Visitor Center (which is the first stop listed below). Since the brochure does not provide recommended driv- ing or walking routes, be sure to bring this Minivan Adventures route guide along with you to make sure that you don’t miss any of these amazingly lifelike sculptures by Seward Johnson!     Form Vision Hans Theys Form Vision Artists on Art Tornado Editions 2019 To Tamara Van San In 1983, a fellow student handed me this Banda copy, suggesting it might be interesting for me – as an aficionado of art and literature – to study the writings of Kafka without interpreting them. The origin of the book you are holding now lies within this generous gesture. Thirty years later, when I accidently rediscovered it, I realised that the text quotes a book by Susan Sontag, translated and typewritten by an unknown hand. Everyone has a sort of individual form vision. In all the greatest artists the seeds of this form vision has been present even in their early work, and to some extent their work has been a gradual unfolding of this rhythm throughout. (…) It’s something the artist can’t control – it’s his make up. (…) The less conscious you are of your own individual form rhythm, the more likely it is, I think, to get richer and fuller and develop. Henry Moore, 1941 What is important now is to recover our senses. We must learn to see more, to hear more, to feel more. Our task is not to find the maximum amount of content in a work of art, much less to squeeze more content out of the work than is already there.     An Analysis of Shaping of Female Characters in Films Directed by Mainland Chinese, Taiwanese and Chinese Diasporic Female Directors Hongyu An Faculty Advisor: Carlos Rojas Asian and Middle Eastern Studies March 2021 This project was submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in the Graduate Liberal Studies Program in the Graduate School of Duke University. Copyright by Hongyu An 2021 Abstract This thesis intends to examine the shaping of female characters in films directed by Chinese female directors. Six films are selected as examples: The Crossing (Guo chun tian, Bai Xue, 2019), Angels Wear White (Jia nian hua, Vivian Qu, 2017), Love Education (Xiang ai xiang qin, Sylvia Chang, 2017), Dear Ex (Shei Xian Ai Shang Ta De, Mag Hsu and Chih- Yen Hsu, 2018), Song of the Exile (Ke tu qiu hen, Ann Hui, 1990), and The Farewell (Lulu Wang, 2019). The selected films are divided into three groups: those directed by mainland Chinese, Taiwanese and Chinese diasporic women. By comparing the female characters with their counterparts and by analyzing the character shaping and identity formation of the female protagonists in these films, this thesis will discuss the commonalities and differences among the protagonists. The project is not intended to make general and mechanical conclusions, but to show how a variety of female characters have appeared in recent Chinese films directed by female directors, and how these characters epitomize different groups of women or female identities in the current Chinese society.

    The Seward Johnson Atelier ACTIVITIES TO ENHANCE YOUR EXHIBITION l. Photo Contest This is a great event that has been very enthusiastically received in many sites as a way to encourage lots of community involvement with the exhibit. Get some local businesses to contribute prizes (an inexpensive camera from a photo shop, a dinner at a local restaurant, a night at a hotel). It is usually pretty easy to get them on board for this for the inherent publicity. Then announce via local TV, radio, posters, and newspapers the news of the contest. Applications can be picked up around town at businesses, or perhaps the newspaper will print them for you on the living/style section pages along with your walking tour map. Participants are asked to take photos, the only constant being that the sculptures be the subject (or part of); anything from artistic lighting at sunrise to the family dog posing. Entries are submitted to a “committee” (you, your art committee, local artists and photographers, whomever). The “show” of photos can be mounted in a visible lobby of a bank or other public access building drawing in all the participants to see their competition and having the prize winning top three entries presented with their awards at an opening. (Another fun and positive press event. This contest also encourages talk around town about the show and is incentive for people to see each and every sculpture to find the best spot to shoot their prize photo. Please note that The Seward Johnson Atelier may also be able to provide a Seward Johnson sculpture book or miniature to use as prizes.
