The Kelowna Falcons Baseball Club is the lone Canadian representative in the West 2014 Coast League. In 2000 the Kelowna Grizzlies were purchased by the Nonis Family who Overall 31-23 changed the name to Falcons. The Falcons first started play in the Pacific International League 27-22 Non-league 4-1 League (PIL) and competed in the league championship in 2004. The following year the Division 12-9 Falcons along with six other teams created the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League Home games 16-13 Away games 15-10 (which became the WCL in 2009). Day games 1-1 Night games 30-22 SERIES WITH THE FALCONS The AppleSox own the the overall series against the Falcons, 56-21, dating back to the Series 13-5 beginning of WCL play in 2005. The two teams have met in the playoffs six times and the Home Series 8-2 Away Series 5-3 AppleSox have swept all three playoff series. All three series continued in consecutive First game of series 10-9 seasons starting in 2008 and ending in 2010. The two clubs have met in extra innings five Rubber game of series 9-2 Last game of series 13-5 times. The AppleSox own the lead in extra frames, winning four of the games and losing Series sweeps 3-2 only one. The one loss came in the sixth meeting between the two teams in 2008. This season, the AppleSox have won each of the first two series, two games to one. A Wenatchee loss will give the Pippins the same fate. Wenatchee August games 3-1 is the last team mathematically alive in the East Division. A Wild Card berth, which Sunday games 7-0 is seemingly more within reach for Wenatchee, would be assisted by another Bend Monday games 2-3 loss. The AppleSox are officially one game back in the wild card and need to make up Tuesday games 4-5 Wednesday games 5-4 two games to overtake Bend (who has the tiebreaker due to winning 2 of 3 in regular Thursday games 6-1 season). Bend finishes the season with struggling Klamath Falls, If Wenatchee wins out, Friday games 4-4 Saturday games 3-6 they need Bend to lose 2 of their final 5. AppleSox score first 20-7 FROST FOR FOUR Opponent scores first 11-16 Tyler Frost was the first AppleSox player to attain four hits in a league game, while Nick 1-run games 9-7 Brooks has already had a five hit performance in league play at Bend. 2-run games 2-2 Sox scored 3 runs or less 6-9 Sox scored 4 runs or more 24-15 APPLESOX APPROACHING RECORD MARKS Ed Knaggs is now seven wins away from his 500th, all-time. ABOUT THE OREGON ALL-STAR SERIES The Oregon High School Baseball All-Star Series showcases elite senior players from the state’s 5A and 6A classifications over a three-game set held each third weekend in June. His interest in baseball goes back to fond childhood memories of attending Rain- iers games at Sick’s Stadium in Seattle. He was co-owner and founder of the Wenatchee Business Journal in 1987, the Bellingham Business Jounal in 1992, and the Everett Business Journal in 1999. KEN OSBORNE Owner Assistant General Manager Ken has been the assistant general manager of the AppleSox since 2006. He was raised in Coulee City and attended Wenatchee Valley- College. Before joining the AppleSox, he spent seven years as the superintendent of the Sun Lakes Golf Course & Resort. Prior to that, he worked at Mission Ridge.     Media Contact: NEWS Rob Neyer 503.233.2490 For Immediate Release West Coast League On Friday, May 8, the West Coast League and its member teams released the following statement regarding their 2020 season… The West Coast League is closely monitoring the Covid-19 policies and announcements issued by federal, state, provincial, and local authorities in Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. Considering the latest information at hand, the WCL has postponed our scheduled June 5 opening, and we’re now targeting early July for the return of baseball to our member cities. As we prepare for our sixteenth season, we’re constantly keeping two things in mind: the health and safety of our players, staff, and fans; and bringing back the Great Game of Baseball to our communities. This week, Oregon Governor Kate Brown said fans will likely not be allowed at sporting events until October; Wednesday in British Columbia, the announcement of “re-open guidelines” dimmed our hopes for league games north of the border. As a result of these and other governmental directives, we anticipate that the WCL’s Bend Elks, Corvallis Knights, Kelowna Falcons, and Victoria HarbourCats will soon join the Bellingham Bells in canceling their 2020 seasons, while not precluding the possibility of other events this summer. Meanwhile, the league’s other teams continue to pursue all their options, with the potential for attracting a great number of terrific collegiate-level players. While the existing constraints make it clear that 2020 will not look like a traditional West Coast League season, all of our teams—whether playing this season or not—remain committed to bringing baseball to our loyal fans, both this summer and in 2021.

The attached report presents our research, analysis and findings and is intended to assist the Coeur d’Alene Sports Complex Committee (“Committee”) in evaluating the viability of the development of the complex. The analysis presented in this report is based on estimates, assumptions and other information developed from industry research, market data provided by the project representatives and stakeholders, surveys of potential facility users and analysis of competitive/regional facilities and communities. The sources of information, the methods employed and the basis of significant estimates and assumptions are stated in this report. Some assumptions inevitably will not materialize and unanticipated events and circumstances may occur. Therefore, actual results achieved will vary from those described and the variations may be material. The findings presented herein are based on analysis of present and near-term conditions in the Coeur d’Alene area as well as existing interest levels by a new sports and event complex’s potential base of users. Any significant future changes in the characteristics of the local community, such as unanticipated growth in population, corporate inventory and visitor amenities/attractions, could materially impact the key market, financial and economic conclusions developed as a part of this study.
