The Kelowna Falcons Baseball Club is the lone Canadian representative in the West 2014 Coast League. In 2000 the Kelowna Grizzlies were purchased by the Nonis Family who Overall 17-12 changed the name to Falcons. The Falcons first started play in the Pacific International League 14-12 Non-league 3-0 League (PIL) and competed in the league championship in 2004. The following year the Division 5-3 Falcons along with six other teams created the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League Home games 9-6 Away games 8-6 (which became the WCL in 2009). Day games 1-1 Night games 16-11 SERIES WITH THE FALCONS The AppleSox own the the overall series against the Falcons, 53-19, dating back to the Series 8-2 beginning of WCL play in 2005. The two teams have met in the playoffs six times and the Home Series 5-1 Away Series 3-1 AppleSox have swept all three playoff series. All three series continued in consecutive First game of series 5-6 seasons starting in 2008 and ending in 2010. AppleSox score first 11-4 Opponent scores first 6-8 ABOUT KELOWNA’S COACH CLONTZ 1-run games 7-4 Coach Clontz spent his entire childhood in Oregon, played there, and even coached 2-run games 0-1 Sox scored 3 runs or less 4-5 there. The native of Corvallis starred at Corvallis High School and then moved on to play Sox scored 4 runs or more 14-6 at Mt. Hood Community College (2006-08). From there, he moved on to NCAA Division II Western Oregon where he helped lead the Wolves to 34-14 (2009) and 34-15 (2010) Leading after 6 innings 14-0 Tied after 6 innings 1-1 seasons. Mt. Hood is a nationally renowned program that has won 20 conference championships since 1971, including 16 of the last 22. The following the day, the North took the series with a 7-3 victory in Sunday’s early morning game. Southpaw Cole Stringer of Central Catholic picked up the win to capture the series for the North. Brady McGetrick of Tigard High School recorded 3 RBIs in Sunday’s first game. The South edged the North 5-2 in the finale to finish on high note. David Brosius of McMinnville, an OSU commit, was the winning pitcher. Derek Hogate of Churchill hit a 3-run homer to lead the offense for the South. Mark Finkelnburg was named the Reser’s All-Star Series MVP. The Most Outstanding Player for the North was Brady McGetrick and Most Outstanding Pitcher honors for the North went to Cole Stringer. South Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Pitcher, respectively, went to Derek Hogate of Churchill and David Brosius of McMinnville. He was co-owner and founder of the Wenatchee Business Journal in 1987, the Bellingham Business Jounal in 1992, and the Everett Business Journal in 1999. KEN OSBORNE Owner Assistant General Manager Ken has been the assistant general manager of the AppleSox since 2006. He was raised in Coulee City and attended Wenatchee Valley- College. Before joining the AppleSox, he spent seven years as the superintendent of the Sun Lakes Golf Course & Resort. Prior to that, he worked at Mission Ridge.
