Travel in La Rioja, Spain, with Colline d’Italia October 8 - 15, 2022 Land of great wine, stunning architecture, cowboys and wine caves Travel in La Rioja in harvest time, where you’ll taste the great wines of the region, both red and white, the fabulous food, surrounded by beautiful landscapes and fascinating history Highlights: Day 1, Saturday, October 8: 3:00 Pickup at Bilbao Airport. Off to the little town of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, to our hotel, Casona del Boticario, www.casonadelboticario.com. Welcome reception, dinner in the town after a walk to the top of the fortress Day 2, Sunday, October 9: Wine Town Central: in Haro we’ll visit a tiny winery, going underground. The town is famous as the center of La Rioja’s wine production. We’ll learn about the history of the region, and have a very special lunch Day 3, Monday, October 10: Bodegas Valdelana, in Elciego, for a tour of its wine caves, , tasting, and lunch in the vineyards, then a stop at the spectacular Marqués de Riscal, Elciego, Frank Gehry’s amazing contribution to the architecture of wine in La Rioja Day 4, Tuesday, October 11: Cathedral Day: Burgos, in nearby Castilla y León, beautiful town with its fantastical Gothic ca- thedral, resting place of the Spanish warrior hero, El Cid Day 5, Wednesday, October 12: The winery of Baigorri, in Samaniego, spectacular creation of Basque architect Iñaki As- piazu, with lunch overlooking the vineyards, hills and plains where La Rioja meets País Vasc0, the Basque Country Day 6, Thursday, October 13: A vineyard excursion on horseback, and after dinner in San Vicente a special event at a local bar Day 7, Friday, October 14: Tapas Day in Logroño: called Pintxos here, this town is famous for its delicious and varied selec- tion. We’ll make the most of the 50 or so possible stops Day 8, Saturday, October 15: Departure day All meals, with wine, accommodations and attractions are included, as is transportation during the trip, from pick-up to drop-off on departure day. The balance of the first half payment is due October 1, 2021. If the booking is made after that date the first half payment is due upon booking. Balance of the full amount is due May 1, 2022. Please inquire about payment plans. CANCELLATION OR POSTPONEMENT You may cancel your tour prior to the time that the balance of the first half payment is due. After that time, all payments received are non-refundable. If you have paid for at least half of the tour, credit for that amount will be issued towards a future tour, with possible adjustments due to exchange rates, rises in accommodation prices, etc. In case of postponement by our company, complete credit will be issued towards the same tour in the following year with no adjustments. TRAVEL INSURANCE It is highly recommended that you purchase travel insurance to protect your travel investment. This must be bought soon after you sign up for any tour, usually within10 days or up to three weeks. Most airlines offer some travel insurance when you book a ticket. Note that most travel products are non-refundable. Travel protection normally provides coverage for Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Medical and Dental, Emergency Assistance and Transportation, Baggage loss, damage or delay, Travel Delay and possibly more. Be sure to get a policy that includes coverage for COVID19-related issues, which is now available. There are also policies that cover ‘Cancel for No Reason’, more costly. If you have a pre-existing condition, be sure to inquire about that with the travel insurance company before you purchase any policy.
