Lynnwood Link schedule PLANNING DESIGN CONSTRUCTION START OF 2010–2016 2016–2019 Scheduled 2019–2023 SERVICE WE ARE HERE 2024 Lynnwood City Center Station Located at the existing Lynnwood Transit Center, this elevated center platform station serves the south Lynnwood area, connecting light rail trains to buses at one of the busiest transit centers in the region. Surface parking and a new parking garage accommodate approximately 1,900 parking spaces. A pedestrian promenade and plaza incorporates art by Claudia Fitch and landscape and hardscape features that reflect the natural flow of the nearby daylit fish stream. Mountlake Terrace Station Located at the existing Mountlake Terrace Transit Center, this elevated center platform station spans 236th Street with north and south entry lobbies. The station, which retains existing garage and surface parking for 890 cars, is a short walk from Veterans Memorial Park, the Mountlake Terrace Library, new city hall and the future Terrace Station transit-oriented development. Shoreline North/185th Station Located just east of I-5, this freeway-level station serves Shoreline Stadium, the Shoreline Conference Center and surrounding neighborhoods with entry at north and south ends of the station. The north entry offers safe and easy access up and over tracks to the west side platform. The project includes a new parking garage with approximately 500 spaces. Station walkways and seating designs incorporate a Douglas fir tree branch motif, while station art by Mary Lucking celebrates the community and urban forest. Shoreline North/185th Station entrance. Shoreline South/145th Station Located at the North Jackson Park-and-Ride, this elevated center platform station features blue and yellow colors representing local wetlands and vegetation. Throughout station plaza areas, seating and walkway patterns incorporate a cedar tree branch design. Station art by Buster Simpson celebrates sustainability and the history of neighborhood wetlands by collecting rainwater from the new 500-space parking garage into a cairn that eventually flows into a bog-vegetated garden in the north plaza area. Corridor principal conclusion of TCRP Report 52 is that there is potential in North America for joint A light rail–railroad operations, but under limited and controlled circumstances. The question of where these circumstances could exist in the United States that would be similar to Europe and Japan remains difficult to answer. It is argued that U.S. light rail transit agencies, by obtaining approvals and abilities to design, construct, operate, and maintain light rail–freight rail shared-use arrangements on small scales, are North America’s counterpart to Europe’s extended evolution toward mixed traffic on shared track. San Francisco’s new Third Street light rail extension illustrates this trend. The median running alignment crosses two lightly used freight industry leads. Unique operating, safety, and cost challenges exist at each rail-to-rail crossing. Shared-use arrangements were possible because of low freight volumes and a 3-year negotiated willingness by the Class I railroad to lease the two primary crossings in exchange for maintenance of the freight track and shared liability. The project outcome is a blend of railroad and transit design and operations. This outcome is possible because the transit agency expanded its capability to manage shared assets with both railroad and transit regulatory standards. By building expertise to manage assets shared by the general railroad system, light rail agencies are incrementally advancing U.S. capability to implement more complex shared systems at a future stage.
