I am concerned about commercial vehicles from Texas, other States and Countries getting a pass in Texas if they hurt or kill someone. I am concerned that if this bill passes, companies have less incentive to investigate bad drivers, self police their company, train and discipline. This is a strange thing to say about the most successful comedian in America, but it’s true—at least if you take his word for it. In his stand- up specials and TV shows, Louis portrays a character who spends every day being defeated by the vagaries of modern life. His relationships are disastrous; his parenting is suspect; his career is floundering. Worst of all, this version of Louis is a hypocrite. He knows what he should do, and does the opposite anyway. The genius of Louis is that he makes us complicit in his hypocrisy, because he presents us with a person whose moral flaws mirror our own.

    #TBT: ‘Louie’ 05.28.2015 Louis C.K.'s latest live comedy special has been selling on his own website for $5 and (finally!) comes to television Thursday, May 28 on FX. The same night, FX is airing the season five finale of his series Louie. Louis C.K. Live at the Comedy Store is explained by the comedian himself like this: "This is my new standup special Louis C.K. Live at the Comedy Store. As you can probably extract from the title, it's me, live, at the Comedy Store which is a legendary comedy club on the sunset strip in Los Angeles." The special is one of many of C.K.'s sets at theaters and venues like The Beacon Theater and Carnegie Hall. His past specials for TV have been promoted to the level of his genius and star power. HBO's Louis C.K.: Oh My God, for example, went BIG. C.K. promoted this year's special at Los Angeles' Comedy Store on his own website and YouTube channel: For Louie on FX, trailers and promos have been completely the opposite, often portraying black-and-white despair from around New York. Louie season 1: From the beginning, FX has promoted his show through the comedian's standup interspersed with his daily struggles. Louie season 2: The two girls who play his daughters on the show joined him for an announcement for season two: Louie season 4: Louie campaigns love images of New York.

Ch. 1 gives some background on Louie’s childhood. The boy’s name was Louis Silvie Zamperini. The son of Italian immigrants, he had come into the world in Olean, New York, on January 26, 1917, eleven and a half pounds of baby under black hair as coarse as barbed wire. His father, Anthony, had been living on his own since age fourteen, first as a coal miner and boxer, then as a construction worker. His mother, Louise, was a petite, playful beauty, sixteen at marriage and eighteen when Louie was born. In their apartment, where only Italian was spoken, Louise and Anthony called their boy Toots. From the moment he could walk, Louie couldn’t bear to be corralled. His siblings would recall him careening about, hurdling flora, fauna, and furniture. The instant Louise thumped him into a chair and told him to be still, he vanished. If she didn’t have her squirming boy clutched in her hands, she usually had no idea where he was. In 1919, when two-year-old Louie was down with pneumonia, he climbed out his bedroom window, descended one story, and went on a naked tear down the street with a policeman chasing him and a crowd watching in amazement. Soon after, on a pediatrician’s advice, Louise and Anthony decided to move their children to the warmer climes of California.
