Cover photo: Patrik Olofsson/N Maps: Stadsbyggnadskontoret Kristianstads kommun PERIODIC REVIEW FOR BIOSPHERE RESERVE INTRODUCTION The UNESCO General Conference, at its 28th session, adopted Resolution 28 C/2.4 on the Statutory Framework of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves. This text defines in particular the criteria for an area to be qualified for designation as a biosphere reserve (Article 4). In addition, Article 9 foresees a periodic review every ten years The periodic review is based on a report prepared by the relevant authority, on the basis of the criteria of Article 4. The periodic review must be submitted by the national MAB Committee to the MAB Secretariat in Paris. The text of the Statutory Framework is presented in the third annex. The form which follows is provided to help States prepare their national reports in accordance with Article 9 and to update the Secretariat's information on the biosphere reserve concerned. This report should enable the International Coordinating Council (ICC) of the MAB Programme to review how each biosphere reserve is fulfilling the criteria of Article 4 of the Statutory Framework and, in particular, the three functions: conservation, development and support. It should be noted that it is requested, in the last part of the form (Criteria and Progress Made), that an indication be given of how the biosphere reserve fulfils each of these criteria. -

During the spring of 1986, a new species of Psychidae was discovered in the Romanian southern Carpathians that, based on a series of characteristic features, was placed in the genus Siederia Meier, 1957. Siederia transsilvanica sp. n. is easily distinguishable from the other congeneric species by its wingspan and markings, the relatively low genitalic index and the small size of the case. From the species of the closely related genus Dahlica Enderlein, 1912 it is distinguished mainly by the presence of an epiphysis on the foretibia of the male. The new species occurs in shadow-rich rocky places, with abundant growth of algae, lichens and mosses, the foodstuffs of the larvae. Zusammenfassung. Im Frühjahr 1986 wurde in den rumänischen Südkarpaten eine neue Psychidenart entdeckt, die aufgrund einer Reihe gattungstypischer Merkmale dem Genus Siederia Meier, 1957 zugeordnet wurde. Siederia transsilvanica sp. n. läßt sich hinsichtlich ihrer Flügelspannweite und Zeichnung, dem relativ niedrigen Genitalindex sowie der Kleinheit der Säcke leicht von den anderen Arten der Gattung trennen. Von den Arten der naheverwandten Gattung Dahlica Enderlein, 1912 unterscheidet sie sich in der Hauptsache durch das Vorhandensein einer Epiphyse an den Vordertibien der Männchen. Die neue Art besiedelt schattig gelegene Felsen, an denen reichlich Algen, Flechten und Moose, die Nahrungsquellen der Raupen, vorkommen. -

DNA bar- coding is particularly useful when identification using morphological characteristics is laborious and/or unreliable. However, bar- codes for species are dependent on the availability of reference sequences from correctly identified specimens. The traditional use of morphology to delimit the species boundaries of Finnish bagworm moths (Lepidoptera: Psychidae: Naryciinae: Dahliciini) is contro- versial because there is overlap in their morphological characteristics. In addition, there are no suitable molecular markers. We veri- fied the delimitation of seven out of eight previously described taxa, by using the currently standardized COI barcode and phylogenetic inference based on fragments of mitochondrial (COI) and nuclear genes (MDH). Moreover, we compared the results of molecular methods with the outcome of geometric morphometrics. Of these, Siederia rupicolella SAUTER, 1954 is new for the German fauna. Of Dahlica triquetrella HÜBNER, 1812 the bisexual form was detected for the first time in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg: In der zweiten Maihälfte des Jahres 1989 wurden in der entomologisch noch unzureichend erforschten Adelegg (württembergisches Allgäu) mehrere Exkursionen mit dem Ziel durchgeführt, die dort beheimate ten Psychiden arten zu registrieren und Näheres über ihre Lebensweise in Erfahrung zu bringen. Die Aufnahmen wurden, unter dankenswer ter Mithilfe des Entomologen Herrn D. Doczkal , Malsch, in der nä heren Umgebung des Schwarzen Grats, 1119 m NN, und des Eisenba cher Tobels, 900 m NN, vorgenommen. Contributo Alla Conoscenza Degli Psichidi Che Vivono Nel Parco Nazionale Delle Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona E Campigna (Insecta Lepidoptera Psychidae)

Romagna, 38: 59-89 (dicembre 2013) ISSN 1123-6787 Edgardo Bertaccini Contributo alla conoscenza degli Psichidi che vivono nel Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna (Insecta Lepidoptera Psychidae) Riassunto In accordo con la autorità amministrative del Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna (Appennino Tosco-Romagnolo), sono state effettuate ricerche entomologiche per migliorare le conoscenze sugli Psychidae che vivono all’interno del Parco. I risultati acquisiti in questo breve arco di tempo (circa 2 anni) hanno già palesato, in un recente lavoro, la scoperta di una specie nuova per la scienza: Dahlica casentinensis Bertaccini, 2013, e come esposto nel presente contributo, consentito l’individuazione di altre 9 specie nuove per l’area, fra cui: Siederia appenninica Herrmann, 2000 (specie nuova per la Romagna e 2° segnalazione assoluta); Diplodoma adspersella Heinemann, 1870 e Sterrhopterix fusca Haworth, 1809 (specie nuove anche per la Romagna). Complessivamente, considerando anche qualche dato inedito precedente, sono state censite 19 specie, per ognuna delle quali vengono fornite indicazioni aggiornate sulla sistematica, la geonemia, la distribuzione italiana, la fenologia e la biologia. Falterona and Campigna (Insecta Lepidoptera Psychidae)] In accordance with the Authorities of the National Park “Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna” (Tosco Romagnolo Apennines) the author carried out entomological researches on the Psychidae (bagworms) of the Park. Muus Erik J. van Nieukerken TREFWOORDEN Faunistiek, nieuwe waarneming, provincies, areaaluitbreidingen Entomologische Berichten 73 (3): 91-117 In de jaren 2007-2010 werden maar liefst elf soorten kleine vlinders nieuw voor onze fauna gevonden: Infurcitinea teriolella, Bucculatrix ulmifoliae, Caloptilia fidella, Phyllonorycter issikii, Coleophora motacillella, Cochylis molliculana, Cnephasia sedana, Clepsis dumicolana, Lobesia botrana, Pseudococcyx tessulatana en Evergestis aenealis. Daarnaast werden drie soorten al elders gemeld: Caloptilia hemidactylella, Cydalima perspectalis en Bucculatrix ainsliella. Na 30 jaar van jaarlijsten geven we een evaluatie, met onder andere een totaal van 128 nieuw gemelde soorten. Dit zijn er minder dan in Denemarken, maar meer dan op de Britse Eilanden of in Zweden. We verklaren deze verschillen door het verschil in oppervlak van de landen: hoe kleiner het land, hoe meer kans dat er nieuwe soorten gevonden worden. Dit jaaroverzicht is het laatste dat in deze vorm verschijnt. Dit is het negentiende jaaroverzicht van de Nederlandse Micro- die beoordeeld konden worden door specialisten. This regional plan has been compiled from individual branch plans which are initially drawn up from 1997-1999. As the majority of the information included in this action plan has been directly lifted from these original plans, credit for this material should go to the authors of these reports. Large Variation in Mitochondrial DNA of Sexual and Parthenogenetic Dahlica Triquetrella

Still, in some groups it is quite common and has evolved and persisted multiple times. These groups may provide important clues to help solve the ‘paradox of sex’. Several species in the Psychidae (Lepidoptera) have obligate parthenogenesis. Dahlica triquetrella is one of those species where multiple transitions to parthenogenesis are postulated based on intensive cytological and behavioural studies. This has led to the hypothesis that multiple transitions from sexuals to diploid parthenogens occurred during and after the last glacial period, followed by transitions from parthenogenetic diploids to parthenogenetic tetraploids. Our study is the first to test these hypotheses using a molecular phylogeny based on mtDNA from multiple sexual and parthenogenetic populations from a wide geographic range. Results: Parthenogenetic (and sexual) D. triquetrella are not monophyletic, and considerable sequence variation is present suggesting multiple transitions to parthenogenesis. However, we could not establish ancestral sexual haplotypes from our dataset. Our data suggest that some parthenogenetic clades have evolved, indicating origins of parthenogenesis before the last glacial period. Conclusions: Multiple transitions to parthenogenesis have taken place in Dahlica triquetrella, confirming previous hypotheses. The number of different parthenogenetic clades, haplotypes and their apparent evolutionary age, clearly show that parthenogenesis has been a very successful reproductive strategy in this species over a long period.
