Dissemination of early Rainfall forecast warming during the Monsson Period It is often observed that communities living in remote and isolated locations do not receive timely and reliable warnings of impending disasters. Hence, it is necessary to have robust and effective early warning systems, which can play crucial role in saving lives and limiting the extent of damage to assets and services. Outreach and reliability of warnings are key factors for planning and implementing response measures. DDMA, Una provides the early warming related to heavy rainfall in the area of the district Una (H.P.) and send the detailed report with the name of potential areas of heavy rainfall during the monsoon period and more details related this can be access through http://dms.iirs.gov.in/ web portal. Location based Resources Inventory using open source GIS maps The follow the IDRN objective to provide the nation-wide electronic inventory of resources that enlists equipment and human resources, collated from districts, states and national level line departments and agencies. DDMA, Una start an initiative to develop the Map based location Resources Inventory using the open source GIS software. Primary focus of this initiative is to enable the decision makers to find answers on availability of equipment and human resources required to combat any emergency situation. This database will also enable them to assess the level of preparedness for specific disasters. 3. DEOC setup with best facilities in the State The newly District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC), Una was established in District Una (H.P.). The design, layout, equipment and operation of the DEOC, Una as per the EOC Manual prepared at the State level by Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA), Shimla or National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Delhi (India). DEOC, Una fortify with all basic and advance communication and IT infrastructure in constraint of limited space and resources. It has been set up with basic hazard resistant structural features and communication facilities and equipped with computers, LCD, Generator, emergency lights, open source geographical information system (GIS) and on-site basic emergency coordination kits in ready-to-use mode. 4 | P a g e 5 | P a g e .
