La autora de este trabajo ha disfrutado de un contrato temporal con cargo a dicho proyecto (marzo 2017 – julio 2018). The study is based on a benthic survey carried out in spring 2007, a few months after completion of the wind farm. During this survey the benthic fauna was sampled within the wind farm itself and in 6 reference areas lying north and south of it. Sampling took place mainly with a boxcorer, but there was also a limited programme with a Triple‐D dredge. The occurrence of possible effects was analyzed by comparing characteristics of the macrobenthos within the wind farm with those in the reference areas. A quantitative comparison of these characteristics with those observed during a baseline survey carried out 4 years before was hampered by a difference in sampling design and methodological differences. The conclusions of this study can be summarized as follows: 1. Based on the Bray‐Curtis index for percentage similarity there appeared to be great to very great similarity in the fauna composition of OWEZ and the majority of the reference areas.

    Journal of Aquaculture & Marine Biology Genetic relationship of asiatic hard clam populations collected in northern coastal provinces in Vietnam based on mtDNA sequence analysis Abstract Research Article The genetic relationship of some Asiatic hard clam (Meretrix meretrix) based on mtDNA Volume 7 Issue 1 - 2018 COI sequence analysis was investigated for populations collected in Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Nghe An provinces in Vietnam. In addition, this research also targets at species Vu Thi Trang,1 Le Thi Quynh Chi,3 Chu Chi identification based on COI sequences. In total of 59 sequences analyzed, 19 sequences Thiet,2 Nguyen Huu Duc,3 Tran Thi Thuy Ha1 belonged to Meretrix meretrix species with Gen Bank accession number DQ399399.1. 17 1Centre of Aquaculture Biotechnology, Research Institute for sequences of M. meretrix were used for genetic relationship analysis among 3 populations. Aquaculture No.1, Vietnam In which, 6 polymorphic sites, 3 parsimony informative sites and 4 haplotypes observed 2Aquaculture Research Sub-Institute for North Central for the COI gene. Moderately genetic population diversity was observed, overall haplotype (ARSINC), Research Institute for Aquaculture No.1, Vietnam and nucleotide diversity were 0.476±0.233 and 0.00151±0.00069, respectively. Generally, 3Faculty of Biotechnology, Vietnam National University of Agriculture, Vietnam genetic differentiation (FST) (FST < 0.15) was moderate. The genetic distance was rather low, which ranged from 0.001 (Thai Binh–NgheAn, Thai Binh–Nam Dinh populations) to 0.002 (Nam Dinh – Nghe An populations). The main organ systems were studied in the living animal, particular attention being paid to the cilia­ ry feeding and cleasing mechanisms in the mantle cavity. The anatomy, functioning of the stomach and the ciliary sorting mechanisms are described. The stomach unlike that of almost all species of Donax and like the majority of the Tellinacea belongs to type V, as defined by Purchon, and could be regarded as advanced for the Donacidae. A general comparison has been made between the known species of Donax and some features of Iphigenia brasiliensis Lamarck 1818, also a donacid. INTRODUCTION Very little is known of donacid bivalves from the Brazilian littoral. Except for the publications of Narchi (1972; 1974) on Iphigenia brasiliensis and some ecological and adaptative features on Donax hanleyanus, all references to them are brief descrip­ tions of the shell and cheklists drawn up from systematic surveys. Beach clams of the genus Donax inhabit intertidal sandy shores in most parts of the world. Donax hanleyanus Philippi 1847 is one of four species occuring through­ out the Brazilian littoral. Its known range includes Espirito Santo State and the sou­ thern Atlantic shoreline down to Uruguay (Rios, 1975). The only extant representative of the genus is extremely rare and very poorly known. Materials from the Polish Jurassic deposits (Bajocian–Kimmeridgian; Western Pomerania and Polish Jura) and literature data were used for the reconstruction. Specifically, observations on the anatomy, taphonomy, and diagenesis of the specimens examined as well as lithology of the deposits housing the specimens were used. Shell anatomy characteristics are known for their particular utility in mode of life reconstructions, although the extremely thin-shelled and coarsely sculpted bivalves, such as the Pholadomya examined, have not been studied so far. The reconstruction suggest a diversity of the mode of life, coincident with the morphological differences between the Pholadomya species. At least the adults of anteriorly flattened species are inferred to have lived extremely deeply buried in the sediment, and were hardly mobile. The smaller, more oval in shape, species were more mobile, and some of them are thought to have preferred life in shelters, should those be available. In addition, the function of the cruciform muscle, other than that considered so far, is suggested. Une exception à la règle générale de la SMI se trouve dans environ 100 espèces de bivalves, qui se caractérise par une double transmission uniparentale (DUI) des mitochondries. Chez les espèces DUI, deux lignées d'ADNmt très divergentes et liées au sexe coexistent. Une lignée mitochondriale maternelle (type F), présente dans les ovocytes et les tissus somatiques des individus femelles et males, et une lignée paternelle (type M), présente dans les spermatozoïdes. Dans les tissus somatiques mâles, les deux lignées coexistent parfois, une condition appelée hétéroplasmie. En sachant que les variations génétiques dans l’ADNmt peuvent avoir un impact sur les fonctions mitochondriales, et en donnant l'association stricte des ADNmt de type M et F avec différents gamètes, il est imaginable que la forte divergence entre les deux lignées DUI puisse entraîner des adaptations bioénergétiques avec répercussion sur la reproduction.

Densities of bivalve communities ranged from 21.5 ± 8.2 inds/10 cm2 to 28.5 ± 3.3 inds/10 cm2. In summary, 12 species from six Bivalvia families were recognised. Preliminary investigation on reproductivity of Corbicula blandiana showed the species is dioecious (specimens with separately female or male gonads were indicated), perhaps non-incubatory. Find of Meretrix lyrata, the most abundant commercial species in southern Vietnam, brings up a necessity on suitable policy and exploration in the Ba Lai to conserve valuable species for economic development and scientific purpose. Adult varnish clams from 2 populations were collected in British Columbia, Canada throughout the spawning season to determine sex, fecundity, and timing of spawning. Adult varnish clams were also spawned in the laboratory and the larvae reared at a range of temperatures and salinities. The highest larval growth rates were observed in the 20°C and 20 psu treatments. Planktonic duration ranged from 3 to potentially 8 wk, with higher temperatures and salinities result- ing in a shorter planktonic phase. Larvae reared at 9°C, and at 10 and 15 psu, grew slowly and sur- vived for a minimum of 1 mo but did not reach metamorphosis. These results indicate that varnish clam larvae have a wide range of salinity and temperature tolerances, but grow optimally at warmer temperatures and higher salinities. Varnish clams have comparable larval environmental tolerances and spawning duration to co-occurring bivalves. However, their fecundity appears to be slightly higher and they reach sexual maturity earlier, potentially providing an advantage in establishing new populations.
