COMIC STRIP FESTIVAL LAGAFFE HONOURED

Well I never! In 2017, Gaston Lagaffe, Belgian publisher ’ famous lazybones, is celebrating his 60th birthday. To mark the occasion, the Festival has invited Gaston to the Comic Strip Festival. From the Balloon’s Day Parade to the Gaston: Le Géant de la Gaffe exhibition, through lectures and a wide variety of activities, the little Belgian character in his green poloneck sweater makes is present in all the festivities.

EXHIBITION: “GASTON: LE GÉANT DE LA GAFFE” > STAND E1 Gaston is preparing his best jokes ever for a huge exhibition to mark the sixtieth anniversary of his debut in the SPIROU magazine in 1957. A trip though almost a thousand panels of ’s favourite blunderer. Commissioner: Frédéric Jannin. (p. 44)

“TRAGAWDOUKOUTRRR: ODE TO THE GAFFOPHONE”, A MUSICAL SHOW BY MAX VANDERVORST > BOZAR, ZAAL M Max Vandervorst gives a crazy, unique performance, in which he produces melodies from the strangest objects such as a supermarket trolley, a flat vacuum cleaner, and even a bottlephone, intended to be a stirring tribute to good old Gaston. A FESTIVAL, JUST FOR HIM > PARK, STAND D13 Gaston will feature predominantly at the Spirou Festival, an annual Brussels Comic Strip Festival gathering! A large space will be dedicated to kids’ activities: face-painting, colouring on lightboxes, a Gaston quiz, a scavenger hunt... This will also be the opportunity to get a sneak peek at the Gaffe Gallery, a new release from Dupuis Publishing!

A GIANT BALLOON IN HIS IMAGE To top it all off, Gaston gets a big head and invades the Balloon’s Day Parade thanks to a brand new balloon in his image. Join the 60-year-old lazybones and the whole gang on Sunday 3 September at Place des Palais! Jean-David Morvan will be on hand in his living room throughout the Brussels Comic Strip Festival. He will do what he usually does: he will work from his couch, use social media every which way, discuss his work, and interview his main collaborators. His colaborators will come and show him (as well as the audience) their new panels, answer questions, improvise autograph signing sessions and other spectacular performances. Don’t forget to stop by and have a coffee with Morvan from 1 to 3 September… in his living-room!
