St. John the Apostle
7601 VINE • LINCOLN, NEBRASKA 68505 ST. JOHN THE APOSTLE “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” And when He said this, He breathed on them and said to them: “Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven…” (John 20:21—23) THE SPIRIT AND THE CHURCH IN THE LAST DAYS The Meaning of Pentecost…(from Catechism of the Catholic Church) 731 On the day of Pentecost when the seven weeks of Easter had come to an end, Christ's Passover is fulfilled in the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, manifested, given, and communicated as a divine person: of his fullness, Christ, the Lord, pours out the Spirit in abundance.[Cf. Acts 2:3336][2623,767,1302] 732 On that day, the Holy Trinity is fully revealed. Since that day, the Kingdom announced by Christ has been open to those who believe in him: in the humility of the flesh and in faith, they already share in the communion of the Holy Trinity. By his coming, which never ceases, the Holy Spirit causes the world to enter into the "last days," the time of the Church, the Kingdom already inherited though not yet consummated. [244,672] We have seen the true Light, we have received the heavenly Spirit, we have found the true faith: we adore the indivisible Trinity, who has saved us.[Byzantine liturgy, Pentecost Ves- pers, Troparion, repeated after communion] 696FireNOne of the Symbols of the Holy Spirit: While water signifies birth and the fruitfulness of life given in the Holy Spirit, fire symbolizes the transforming energy of the Holy Spirit's actions. -

Based on the surviving materials in the archives, often unknown facts were presented showing the subsequent phases of discovery of Wojtyła as a poet, playwright, and actor. Keywords John Paul II, history of literature, poetry, drama, theatre. The editing of literary and theatrical works of Karol Wojtyła – John Paul II – is warranted by a conviction that you cannot fully understand the person of the Holy Father without an insight into this part of his biography that concerns his fascination with poetry, drama and theatre. Therefore, you need to refer to the sources: manuscripts and typescripts, Church and private archives, and to carry out a comparative study of the preserved materials. In the event of each researcher, such work is combined with the hope of managing to get to the * The text is an introduction to the book: Karol Wojtyła. Jan Paweł II, Dzieła literackie i teatralne. Confirmation
CONFIRMATION December 1, 2020 Dear Parents and Students, You have elected to register your son/daughter for the St. Agnes Christian Formation program this year. When registering your son/daughter it is stated that our Confirmation program is a two-year program. This program challenges him or her to grow in his or her understanding of the Catholic faith and his or her personal relationship with God. There are several points to make you aware of in preparation for Confirmation (which starts in 8th grade with the student receiving the Sacrament with the completion of 9th grade studies) (due to pandemic this school year completion of 10th grade)). Successful completion of the curriculum includes once a month catechesis, service to others, and spending time with God in prayer. The greatest form of prayer is the celebration of the Mass. As Catholics, we are encouraged to attend weekly Mass in order to recognize God’s love more fully in the Word and Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. While the pandemic poses a particular challenge at this time, students and their families are highly encouraged to either attend weekly Mass in person (Precautions are in place to ensure everyone’s safety) or to seek out an online Mass to encourage growth in love for Christ in preparation for Confirmation. Below is a list of other expectations. Remember, these “assignments” are designed to support our students in their desire to know, love, and serve our wonderful God while helping to prepare them for the reception of the Sacrament. This process for being Confirmed in the Spirit is a commitment from the parish, support from parents, and a commitment from the student that wishes to be Confirmed. -

December 2020
Volume 9 Issue 2 December 2020 Padre Pio Fraternity Brothers and Sisters of St. Francis Region Fraternity On Christmas Day we are reminded that God, through the Incarnation, chose to live in fraternity with all of us, as unworthy as we may be. As Secular Franciscans we are called to imitate Our Lord, in what ways we can, through our fraternity with one another. The COVID-19 epidemic has, through most of 2020, been a disruption to our meeting one another face-to-face, and shall continue to be so on December 25. But Christ’s fraternity with us had also been met by many challenges, without His desire for such bonds having ever been dulled, and we remain called, as always, to imitate Him. Although we will continue resorting to phone calls and Zoom meetings, rather than hugging and sitting at tables with one another, for some months more, the bonds of that fraternity which began on Christmas Day, an event which can never be undone, very much remain. We will always have one another to call our brothers and sisters, no matter what challenges shape our world. We still have one another to wish a very Merry Christmas! Religious Tourism in Areas of Environmental Value in Poland
EKONOMIA I ŚRODOWISKO • 2 (61) • 2017 Franciszek MRÓZ RELIGIOUS TOURISM IN AREAS OF ENVIRONMENTAL VALUE IN POLAND Franciszek Mróz, PhD – Pedagogical University of Cracow Correspondence address: Institute of Geography ul. Podchorazych 2; 30-084 Krakow e-mail: [email protected] ABSTRCT: The study presents pilgrimage sites located in environmentally valuable areas – the areas subject to two forms of nature protection in Poland, i.e. national parks and natural landscape parks. The purpose of the paper is to present, in quantitative terms, shrines in the protected areas of Poland and to analyse the scale and forms of tourism relating to these sites. The subject of the research includes only shrines of the Roman Catholic Church. A descriptive-analytic method, a dynamic-com- parative method, as well as statistical methods were used to present the study results. Over 70 of more than 830 shrines that operate in Poland nowadays are located in areas of nature protected by legislation. At present, in the area of nine Polish national parks, there are twelve shrines and pilgrimage sites that are frequently visited by pilgrims and tourists traveling for religious or reli- gious and cognitive reasons. Nowadays, in the area of Polish natural landscape parks (with buffer zones), there are more than 60 shrines.
