CATHEDRAL HOURS PASTORAL AVAILABILITY:

CATHEDRAL CAMPUS MINISTRY AFTER MIDNIGHT Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday - Sunday 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Ever wonder what it’s like to be suddenly awakened in the Offices, Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. middle of the night? Ask any young parent and they’ll tell you. They get used to it. For me…not so much. Nothing SUNDAY MASS Anticipatory (Saturday) 5:15 p.m. startles me quite like a 2:00 a.m. call on the emergency line! Sunday 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., Noon, & 5:00 p.m. Availability in priestly ministry is vital, especially in situations of life and death. A few years ago, I received a Midnight DAILY MASS emergency anointing call in a suburb more than 20 miles Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. & 5:15 p.m. Saturday 8:00 a.m. away. There was no discernible connection to the Cathedral-perhaps they googled Catholic Churches? I arrived and administered the sacrament. SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION While visiting with family immediately afterwards, suddenly in walked the Monday - Friday 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. local pastor. Awkward...he just glared at me! But during the initial phone Saturday 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. call, I had inquired if they had called their local parish and was informed that they never heard back. So, I got dressed and headed out the door. Tuesday 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Wednesday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It turns out that another family member continued to call the nearby par- ROSARY ish, oblivious that another priest (me!) was on his way. Suddenly we had Sundays at 11:15 a.m. in the Cana Chapel and at two priests, one of whom evidently felt the Cathedral pastor had “zeroed 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Blessed Virgin in” on his parishioner. Nothing could have been further from the truth. Weekdays at 4:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Pastoral availability is often a judgment call and no one bats 1.000. Like OFFICE HOURS (RECTORY AT 239 SELBY AVENUE) many of you, we priests become overwhelmed with e-mails. Occasionally, Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. we receive emergency calls while in Mass or confessions. In a pinch, the Archdiocese even sends out e-mails to priests who live near hospitals in WELCOME CENTER HOURS Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. response to emergency requests phoned in to the Chancery. I never want Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to decline an emergency anointing call, irrespective of parish affiliation.
