UNVEILS NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR “WHO SHOT JOHNNY?” WATCH IT HERE CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED DEBUT PROJECT HEART FULL OF RAGE OUT NOW— NEW MUSIC COMING SOON! NORTH AMERICAN TOUR WITH POST MALONE AND SWAE LEE KICKS OFF SEPT. 14 IN TACOMA, WA; PLAYING MADISON SQUARE GARDEN (OCT. 13/14) AND THE FORUM (NOV. 20/21) (SEPTEMBER 4, 2019 – LOS ANGELES, CA) – Rising singer and genre-defying star Tyla Yaweh uncovers the personal and emotionally charged music video today for “Who Shot Johnny?” It stands out as the latest release from his acclaimed debut project, Heart Full Of Rage [London Entertainment/Epic Records]. Watch it HERE. Directed by Arrad [Tyga, A$AP Rocky, Ty Dolla $ign], the visual depicts the horrors of gun violence and flaws in the justice system with no holds barred. Set and shot in his native Orlando, FL, the video intercuts scenes of a trap house with a mother mourning her gunned-down son on the streets. These images hit especially hard when paired with lines such as “Twelve beating on the door looking for some witnesses. Ain't nobody tell 'em shit 'cause they know what the business is.” The song itself is evocative of his ability to fuse hard-hitting subject matter and magnetically massive melodies. Complex premiered the music video earlier today, along with a behind-the-scenes look into the making of the video. Check out the BTS HERE! About “Who Shot Johnny?”, Tyla said, “‘Who Shot Johnny?’ represents a major part of my journey and story. It’s also a dope ass song for the hood. ‘Johnny’ represents the n***** in the neighborhoods across America. I didn’t wanna sugar coat any of these stories; we was raised differently.” In his vision, “Johnny” represents those lost too soon to gun violence in disenfranchised communities, commenting on the stories that go unreported each and every day. He gives the problem a name and a face, and makes a bold statement in the process. Already, the track has impressively amassed over 4 million streams across platforms. Meanwhile, the total stream tally on Heart Full Of Rage exceeds 70 million-plus streams. After concluding two arena tours across Europe and Australia alongside Post Malone (in addition to Jaden Smith in Australia) and appearing in high-profile festival lineups from Bonnaroo to Lollapalooza and the iconic Reading and Leeds, Tyla Yaweh once again takes his high-energy live show on the road as support on The Runaway Tour, rounding a bill headlined by Post and including Swae Lee.
