NATIONAL DEFENSE UNIVERSITY International Student Management
NATIONAL DEFENSE UNIVERSITY International Student Management Office Fellows Handbook ‘I arrived as a stranger amongst strangers, but I will leave as a friend amongst friends.’ (Revised June 2014) Fellows: Welcome to Washington, D.C., capital of the United States of America. This beautiful city is the core of American government and it serves as a world-renowned educational center as well as a diverse cultural center. The staff at ISMO encourages you to enjoy your stay here as you experience politics, history, science, sports, art, and more. Fort Lesley J. McNair, home of the National Defense University (NDU), is ideally situated in the heart of Washington, D.C. for you to experience all of these things. Information about NDU can be obtained at www.ndu.edu; information about ISMO can be viewed at http://ismo.dodlive.mil. This handbook is designed to ease your transition into the NDU educational program for which you were personally selected. We have provided important information about housing, transportation, identification documents, and basic living needs. Please read it thoroughly. Unfortunately, no handbook can contain all of the information that you need, but you can talk to the staff, consult local directories, or use the internet to find something that you need. The most rewarding source of information about the area, and about America in general, is the population that surrounds you. Get to know your fellow students and neighbors make acquaintances and share experiences. They can give you suggestions about how to experience the USA. We encourage you to explore Washington, D.C. for yourself. -
Campus Guidebook 5Th Edition
CAMPUS GUIDEBOOK 5TH EDITION Wesley Theological Seminary Letter from the Office of Community Life Welcome Home! Whether you are a new student to our school or a returning member of our community, I am so glad that you are here. Wesley Theological Seminary is one of the largest protestant seminaries in the world-but we foster a small-community feeling. It is our hope that you feel the warmth of our community through diverse interactions and encounters with the student body, faculty, and staff as you discern your calling to minister to the world. I pray that every preparation made for your studies will help to be a blessing in your journey of theological education. As the Program Administrator in the Office of Community Life, it is my job to foster and facilitate communications and resources as you prepare for your seminary studies. This includes new student orientation, disability/accommodation support, and the Board of Ordained Ministry visits, etc. The Office of Community Life strives to strengthen community by ensuring that the inclusivity of all remains at the core of our community covenant. I love that my job offers me an opportunity to work with faculty, staff and students to provide the same support that was offered to me when I first arrived to the Wesley Community. I hope that this is the beginning of a similarly positive experience for you as you discern your journey of theological education. This booklet was created to be a resource for you as you are introduced to life here— in DC, at Wesley, and as a student. -

MENU FOR THE EXCLUSIVE USE OF [email protected] From the Washington Business Journal: http://www.bizjournals.com/washington/news/2017/01/17/friendship-heights-retail-center-sells-for- 78.html Friendship Heights retail center sells for $78 million Jan 17, 2017, 5:54pm EST Updated: Jan 18, 2017, 8:05am EST The Mazza Gallerie retail center in Northwest D.C.’s Friendship Heights neighborhood has sold for $78 million. The buyer is an entity affiliated with Ashkenazy Acquisition Corp., the New York developer that controls the existing Union Station building near the U.S. Capitol, according to D.C. deed records. The company purchased the 300,000-square-foot shopping center from the Teachers Insurance Annuity Association of America, or TIAA. The educational retirement fund, which was formerly known as TIAA-CREF, purchased the property in 2004 for $76.5 million, according to D.C. property records. The retail center is located on 1.9 acres at 5300 Wisconsin Ave. NW. We've reached out to AAC for more information on its plans for the property and will update this post if we hear back. Mazza Gallerie has undergone some tenant shifts in recent years. Harriett Kassman left in 2009, and Willams-Sonoma left in 2015. Filene’s Basement closed and T.J. Maxx took the space in 2013. The Mazza Gallerie, which is home to Neiman Marcus and T.J. Maxx, has been sold for $78 million. Both bargain brands have shared the center with luxury department stores Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue Men’s as well as high-end jewelers such as Chas Schwartz & Son and Pampillonia Jewelers. -
