All previously known Bulgarian slugs from the Arionidae, Milacidae, Limacidae and Agriolimacidae families have been discussed in this paper. It is based on many years of individual field research, examination of all accessible private and museum collections as well as on critical analysis of the published data. The taxa from families to species are sup­ plied with synonymy, descriptions of external morphology, anatomy, bionomics, distribution and all records from Bulgaria. It also includes the original key to all species. The illustrative material comprises 118 drawings, including 116 made by the author, and maps of localities on UTM grid. The occurrence of 37 slug species was ascertained, including 1 species (Tandonia pirinia- na) which is quite new for scientists. The occurrence of other 4 species known from publications could not bo established. Basing on the variety of slug fauna two zoogeographical limits were indicated. One separating the Stara Pianina Mountains from south-western massifs (Pirin, Rila, Rodopi, Vitosha. Mountains), the other running across the range of Stara Pianina in the^area of Shipka pass. INTRODUCTION Like other Balkan countries, Bulgaria is an area of Palearctic especially interesting in respect to malacofauna. So far little investigation has been carried out on molluscs of that country and very few papers on slugs (mostly contributions) were published.     Supplement 1 Ecological Engineering and Environment Protection, IX, 2017, p. 47-55 ASSESSMENT OF CONTAMINATION WITH OPPORTUNISTIC PATHOGENIC BACTERIA FROM FAMILY ENTEROBACTERIACEAE IN SEDIMENTS OF ISKAR RIVER Ivaylo Yotinov, Yovana Todorova, Lyubomir Kenderov, Yana Topalova Abstract: Fecal pollution from municipal wastewater discharges is an extremely serious problem for aquatic ecosystems. This type of pollution is also found in the waters and sediments of the Iskar River in its upper and middle valley. From a microbiological point of view, an indicator of such contamination is the presence of high amounts of opportunistic pathogenic microorganisms of the family Enterobacteriaceae. An important feature is that, except in the waters where they are normally found, large amounts of these bacteria can also accumulate in sediments. The purpose of this study is to compare the contamination with opportunistic pathogenic bacteria from the Enterobacteriaceae in sediments from the upper and middle part of the Iskar River. In addition, a comparison of the quantity of entero-bacteria with the ecological state indicators was made by Regulation N-4 of 14.09.2012 on characterization of surface water. From the results of this study, the higher amounts of entero-bacteria were found in the sediments from the middle part of the Iskar River. This is largely related to the strongly negative effect of the urbanized area of Sofia as well as the lack of functioning wastewater treatment plants in the middle of the Iskar River. The results for entero- bacteria from the Upper Iskar subcatchment, also demonstrated a significant contamination with fecal character. As a probable reason for this can be the discharge of Samokov WWTP as well as the unregulated point sources of pollution in this region.

For every individual species, that is extant in every reported cave and gallery, as well as the authors who have made the report, is included. New data, most recently gathered are re­ ported as well. Several species are new for the cave fauna of Bulgaria, some others are all together new to the caves. One species is new for the Bulgarian fauna. The number of the established up until now Lepidoptera species in the caves and galleries in Bulgaria is 32. Introduction For a considerable length of time the Bulgarian cave fauna has been of interest to many researchers, both Bulgarians and foreign. Although considerable data concerning the fauna of Lepidoptera of the caves and galleries in Bulgaria exists, having been published in nu­ merous articles, up until now only one study (Skalski , 1972) concerns the Lepidoptera cave fauna.

This ‘snapshot‘ goes on to provide the foundation for a discussion of possible opportunities for collaboration between ecological economists and CSOs in SEE. As the objective of the CEECEC project (www.ceecec.net) is learning and teaching Ecological Economics with and for CSOs, this report aims to provide a resource for ecological economists in the South Eastern European (SEE) region and to examine ecological economics applications that might benefit research and campaign work of environmental CSOs in the region. Following the introduction, Part 2 prepares the ground by depicting the regional and individual national contexts within which CSOs are carrying out their work on environmental conflicts. This includes a brief profiling of the geographies, demographies and economies of the 6 countries that are the focus of the report: Albania, Bosnia and Herzogovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of (FYR) Macedonia and Serbia. This profiling is followed by a summary of international and national research on the state of the environment, providing an overview of the state of air, water and soil across the region.

RELIGIOUS TOURISM IN THE CROSS-BORDER REGION ROMANIA-BULGARIA GUIDE BULGARIA 3 4 VIDIN DISTRICT Introduction Vidin district is located in the northwest of Bulgaria, on the border with Serbia (west) and Romania (northeast). The district has an area of 3,032 km2, representing 2.73% of the total area of the country. Vidin has the lowest number of inhabitants / km2 compared to other districts in Bulgaria, the population of the area being 86,927 inhabitants in 2018, according to Eurostat. The district is structured into 10 municipalities on the territory of which 7 cities were constituted - the administrative center is Vidin city located on the Danube river bank. Vidin district has a rich and turbulent history, considering its strategic and geographical importance for the consolidation and definition of the Bulgarian state since the Middle Ages, the territory being a military, transport and commercial center for over 2,000 years. Thus on its territory there are numerous archaeological remains, among the most famous being the Baba Vida Fortress (the only medieval castle in Bulgaria fully preserved, over 2,000 years old), the Castra Martis Fortress (built during the Roman and Byzantine periods, centuries I-VI), the Kaleto Fortress (among the best preserved fortresses in Bulgaria), the ruins of the Roman city Ratiaria (an important gold trading center). The Regional History Museum in Vidin is also an important element of cultural and historical heritage. In the Vidin district numerous pilgrimages can be made, the most famous places of religious worship located in this area being Albotina Monastery in the Danube Plain (dug in the rock), Monastery "The Assumption of the Virgin Mary" (in whose courtyard there is a spring with curative properties).
