Ask him: (One) What happened to the young men who disappeared in ancient days, for they have a marvelous story. (Two) Ask him about the mighty traveler who reached the confines of both East and West. (Three) Ask him what the spirit is. If he can give you the answer, then follow him, for he is a Prophet. If he cannot, then he is a forger and treat him as you will.” and told them that they had a decisive way مكة\at Makkah قريش\The two men returned to Quraysh Sallaa Allaahu ‘Alayhe Wa ‘Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam -, and – محمدof dealing with Muhammad told them about the three questions. came to the Messenger of Allaah Sallaa Allaahu ‘Alayhe Wa ‘Alaa Aalehe Wa قريش\Quraysh Sallam and called upon him to answer these questions. 5 The Messenger of Allaah Sallaa Allaahu ‘Alayhe Wa ‘Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam replied: "أخبركم بما سألتم عنه غدا." The Hadeeth means: ”. إن شاء هللا\I will give you your answer tomorrow,” but he did not say “Inshaa’a Allaahu“ So they went away; and the Messenger of Allaah Sallaa Allaahu ‘Alayhe Wa ‘Alaa Aalehe Wa ,on the matter هللاSallam, so they say, waited for fifteen days without a revelation from Allaah began to spread evil reports مكة\come to him, so that the people of Makkah جبريل\nor did Jebreel saying: Sallaa Allaahu ‘Alayhe Wa ‘Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam - promised us an – محمدMuhammad“ answer on the morrow, and today is the fifteenth day we have remained without an answer.” This delay caused the Messenger of Allaah Sallaa Allaahu ‘Alayhe Wa ‘Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam in which he سورة الكهف\brought him Sooratu Al Kahfe جبريل\great sorrow, until Jebreel reproaches his sadness, and told him the answers of their questions: the youth, the mighty traveler and the spirit. I was told that the Messenger of Allaah Sallaa Allaahu ‘Alayhe Wa ‘Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam : جبريل\said to Jebreel "لقد احتبست عني يا جبريل حتى سؤت ظنا." The Hadeeth means: ”.so that I became apprehensive , جبريل\You have shut yourself off from me O Jebreel“ He answered: { َّ َِّ ِ ِ ِ ِ 64 } َوَما َنتََنزُل إَّل بأَْمِر َرِّب َك لَهُ َما َبْي َن أَْيديَنا َوَما َخْلفََنا َوَما َبْي َن َذل َك َوَما َكا َن َرُّب َك َنسًّيا ) ( :and means سورة مريم\This is Aayah sixty four of Sooratu Maryama “(The angels say:) “We descend not but by command of your Lord: to Him belongs what is before us, and what is behind us, and what is between: and your Lord never does forget(64).” (Quraan 19:64). :said السهيلي\Al Suhaylee reported that موسى بن عقبة\and Moosaa ben ‘Uqbah التيمي\The books of Seerah of Al Taymee did not come to him – Sallaa Allaahu ‘Alayhe Wa ‘Alaa Aalehe Wa Sallam - for جبريل\Jebreel and the answers to the questions سورة الكهف\three days, and then brought him Sooratu Al Kahfe ”.قريش\of Quraysh by غزوة بدر\was captured at the Battle of Badr عقبة بن أبي معيط\This ‘Uqbah ben Abee Mu’ayth 6 and will be بنو العجﻻن\of the tribe of Banoo Al ‘Ajlaan عبد هللا بن سلمة\Abdu Allaahe ben Salemah‘ when the Prophet Sallaa Allaahu ‘Alayhe Wa ‘Alaa عرق الظبية\killed at ‘Erqe Al Th-thabyate was غزوة بدر\in the Battle of Badr قريش\Aalehe Wa Sallam, after the victory over Quraysh .while he is still a polytheist المدينة المنورة\returning to Al Madeenah Al Munawwarah عاصم بن ثابت بن أبي اﻷقلح He was killed by ‘Aasem ben Thaabet ben Abee Al Aqlah Al Ansaaree ..بنو عمرو بن عوف\of the tribe of Banoo ‘Amr ben ‘Awf ,اﻷنصاري\ :said إبن هشام\Ibnu Heshaam علي بن أبي طالب\It is said that he was killed by Al Imaam ‘Alee ben Abee Taaleb“ ‘Alayhessalaamu.” أصحاب الكهف\One) The men who disappeared in ancient days) and there is no need سورة الكهف\The story of these young men is recorded in Sooratu Al Kahfi here to repeat it.

Jackson 2018 All Rights Reserved ii ABSTRACT This thesis explores the topic of eschatological violence in the Pentecostal tradition through an intertextual literary analysis of Ezekiel 36:16—39:29 and Revelation 19:11—21 and 20:7—10 by investigating primarily how the intentional literary placement of the ‘Two Sticks’ oracle (Ezek 37:15—28) between the ‘Dry Bones’ vision (Ezek 37:1—14) and the ‘Gog of Magog’ war (Ezek 38:1—39:29) informs the reader’s theological understanding of the message of Ezekiel 36:16—39:29 as a whole. Secondarily, this thesis considers how the allusion to Ezek 38—39 in Rev 19:11—21 and 20:7—10 enhances the reader’s theological understanding of Ezek 36:16—39:29, yielding an intertextual reading that challenges the way these texts have long been understood in popular Pentecostal contexts.

    The Weird History of USAmerican Fascism: A Guide (1979-2019) PhD in Critical and Cultural Theory 2019 M.C. McGrady Summary The future, as ever, can be read in comic books. Foretold by the Dark Age of Comics, the doom that now comes to Earth arrives in the form of self-realizing eschatologies, horrors born out of the rutting between unfettered capitalism and its favorite child, technological hubris. When the Big Two comic book publishers began hiring British and Irish authors en masse over the course of the 1980s, these writers brought with them a critical eye sharpened by the political and economic cruelty of the decade. The victims of the Iron Lady came to the New World and set their sights on the empire of the Teflon President, using superhero stories to explore the ideological weapons deployed in the service of global capitalism. The Weird History of USAmerican Fascism tracks the interrelated networks of popular culture and fascism in the United States to demonstrate the degree to which contemporary USAmerican politics embodies the future that the fictional dystopias of the past warned us about. Although the trans-Atlantic political developments of 2016 and their aftermath have sparked a widespread interest in a resurgent Anglophone fascism and its street-level movements – seen most obviously in the loose collection of white supremacists known as the ‘alt- right’ – this interest has been hamstrung by the historical aversion to a serious study of popular and ‘nerd’ culture during the twentieth century. By paying attention to the conceptual and interpersonal networks that emerged from the comic books and videogames of the 1980s, The Weird History of USAmerican Fascism fills a critical lacuna in cultural theory while correcting recent oversights in the academic analysis of contemporary fascism, providing an essential guide to the past, present, and future of the bizarre world of USAmerican politics.

    No More Tall Buildings: American Superhero Comics and the Shadow of 9/11 Mauricio Castro Synopsis This essay explores reactions to the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001 in superhero comics published by Marvel and DC Comics. It outlines how these publishers largely avoided engaging the meanings of the attacks and focused instead on their impact on American society and politics. It traces commonalities between storylines in Amazing Spider-Man, Ex Machina, and The Boys, contrasting them with the work of John Ney Rieber and John Cassaday on Captain America. It concludes that these corporate entities likely shied away from controversy that might have harmed their industry status and stunted the possibilities of their emerging multi-media presence. Biography Mauricio Castro received a BA from Vassar College and an MA in American history from Purdue University, where he is a Ph.D. candidate.
