Students learn about the basics of visual communication and the elements and principles of art and design through projects using a variety of two-dimensional media. Students also explore the basics of color theory and ideas and concepts in art. Each project introduces contemporary and historic artists with emphasis on research. 2020 ~ Adjunct Instructor Present Forsyth Tech Community College, Winston-Salem, NC Taught undergraduate courses in Digital Design and Digital Photography. Students learn about digital art and photography using relevant software and project-based assignments. Students are prepared for future digital art experiences while learning about visual communication and creative problem solving through illustration, digital collage, and research. 2020 ~ Present Adjunct Instructor Pitt Community College, Greenville, NC Taught undergraduate courses in Introduction to Graphic Design and Digital Design. Students learn about digital art and graphic design through project-based assignments with a focus in digital tools and software including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign. Students receive hands-on experience with processes and skills including making chemistry, creating digital negatives, coating paper, toning, exposing prints, cyanotype printing, Van Dyke brown printing, gum bichromate, lumens, and image transfers. Students learned about conceptual themes in photography and experimented with interdisciplinary work. 2018 ~ Instructor of Record, Photography Survey 2019 East Carolina University, Greenville, NC Taught introductory level students with traditional and contemporary photography. Skills included photograms, scanograms, darkroom printing, developing film, creating pinhole cameras, lighting scenarios, digital cameras, and Adobe Photoshop. Contacted prospective students to the ECU SoAD Graduate program with information and questions through email and text. Communicated with the artist, the university as well as the community about activities and events. Curated an exhibition with the Northern Plains Art Collection. Used the mediums of photography, printmaking, collage, and interdisciplinary work. Became director in 2015. Hired individuals, requested donations, managed finances, and planned assignments. Worked with the Vermillion Area Arts Council with advertising and camp planning. 2014 Intern US Senate, Washington, DC Sponsored by Senator Tim Johnson of South Dakota. Used communication and teamwork skills to work under the Foreign Relations and Veterans’ Affairs legislative assistant and research assistant. Responsible for reception and tours of the Capitol. Aided in writing letters to constituents and organizing office files. 2013 ~ Luce Foundation Center Employee 2014 Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, DC Worked in the Luce Foundation Center, a visual art storage and study center.
