I have spec’ed out our companies hardware proposing separate builds for 3D and 2D artists. Based on industry trends I research and test new and alternative software to build upon or find new workflows for quality, efficiency, and cost deduction. I was responsible for creating the majority of environmental art, its visual design, modeling, lighting and FX, as well as implementing a PBR workflow within Unity (before that was standardized). I wanted to see how far we can push the graphics and set a new standard for Kinect based mini games. I accomplished this through the use of the events logo, repre- senting the Superstars blasting off the winter’s frost. This involved custom materials and a high number of collisions using Maya’s Ncloth and Bullet system. I also created and proposed a PBR workflow (before PBR was standardized) as well as alternatives for in-game lighting for better efficiency within the Unreal Engine. RCOS Mobile Training App – Gaming (Mobile: Android) For the client, SPAWAR, I worked on Route Clearance Optics Suite (RCOS) devices. This app was designed for kids to use their camera phone to look around, find animals, and take a picture together. Through this relationship and exploration of the real world in search of these animals they will pick up on their ABC’s! The challenge was taking very playful loose sketches to a form that maintains the look and feel of the sketch and blend well in the real world. Making this transition required collaborating closely with the design- er.
