Dressed to the nines, everyone entered after taking photos on the lawn, ready for the evening. Between Grade 8s enjoying their first dance and matriculants relishing their last, it is clear that each and every person found their own happy ending on Thursday, 13 February. Congratulations to our King of Hearts, Siyabonga Nhlapo and our Queen of Hearts, Jana Botha. 021 975 6377 | [email protected] | www.curro.co.za Page | 4 Grade 8 Blazer Ceremony On Monday, 10 February the Grade 8 wolf cubs officially became part of the wolf pack. Each Grade 8 learner was called to the front, where the Grade 12 mentors helped the them put on their blazers. This year we decided to start a tradition for each Grade 8 to receive a name badge which they will wear until their matric year. The Grade 8 group then sang the school song with pride, a perfect start to a welcoming our cubs to the Curro Wolf Pack. Grade 12 Art Outing On Friday, 14 February Curro Durbanville's Grade 12 Visual Arts learners visited the International Investec Cape Town Art Fair at the CTICC. Our learners had to find artists who will inspire them in their creative journey for their year-work portfolio pieces. They also had the opportunity to speak to some of the artists about their concepts and media. Learner Leadership Seminar We believe in training leaders for the future in our country and the diverse world we live in. It implies knowing how to navigate your leadership ability in a democratic but very diverse society. We have, therefore, organised a seminar for all our Grade 10 – 12 learner leaders in the CR van der Merwe Hall from 14:00 to 16:00 on Friday, 6 March to assist them in developing these important leadership skills. Learners were informed of this seminar at the beginning of the year, as have the Sports Office and all sporting disciplines. The seminar is free of charge and all learner leaders are expected to attend. 021 975 6377 | [email protected] | www.curro.co.za Page | 5 With this initiative, we are hoping to strengthen their hand in unlocking their potential as future leaders and to assist them in decision making as leaders during their time at school and School safety In the interest of safety: 1. If your child is not fetched immediately after school, they may not wait for you on the pavement outside the school. Please pick them up inside the school grounds, regardless of their age. 2. No grade head, or any other member of staff may allow your child to leave the school premises with someone else, another parent, learner etc., without your written permission reaching us first.
