Iron rich conglomerate of Ma'Okii Formation at Bukit Lop, Chaah, Johor MOHD SHAFEEA LEMAN AND YUSRI ZAKARIAH J abatan Geologi U niversiti Kebangsaan Malaysia 43600 UKM Bangi, Selangor Abstract: Matahari Mining Sdn. Bhd. which operate at the southeastern spur ofBukit Lop, near Chaah, exposed about 40 m thick ofconglomerate which belongs to the continental Upper Mesozoic Ma'Okil Formation. The conglomerate unit overlies a massive andesitic volcanic rock. The lowest bed ofthe conglomerate is essentially made ofangular to subrounded pebbles and cobbles of hematite derived from the nearby primary hematite ore body. The clasts of this conglomerate are poorly sorted and the matrix is made of very fine-grained hematite. Iron clasts are also present in the overlying conglomerate, the percentage and size of which decrease toward the top of the conglomerate unit. This in situ nature of iron conglomerate deposition suggests that the iron clasts were deposited as an alluvial fan deposit along the foot of a fault scarp. The paleoslope is directed toward the northwest. The farthest distribution of the iron pebbles is about 50 m from the centre of the fan. This fault might represent part of the Ma'Okil wrench fault mentioned by Burton (1965) along which Bean (1968) recognised several iron ore deposits. The absence of goethite cement or matrix suggests that the depositional environment of the conglomerate was not very much influenced by water.     The Provider-Based Evaluation (ProBE) 2014 Preliminary Report I. Background of ProBE 2014 The Provider-Based Evaluation (ProBE), continuation of the formerly known Malaysia Government Portals and Websites Assessment (MGPWA), has been concluded for the assessment year of 2014. As mandated by the Government of Malaysia via the Flagship Coordination Committee (FCC) Meeting chaired by the Secretary General of Malaysia, MDeC hereby announces the result of ProBE 2014. Effective Date and Implementation The assessment year for ProBE 2014 has commenced on the 1 st of July 2014 following the announcement of the criteria and its methodology to all agencies. A total of 1086 Government websites from twenty four Ministries and thirteen states were identified for assessment. Methodology In line with the continuous and heightened effort from the Government to enhance delivery of services to the citizens, significant advancements were introduced to the criteria and methodology of assessment for ProBE 2014 exercise. The year 2014 spearheaded the introduction and implementation of self-assessment methodology where all agencies were required to assess their own websites based on the prescribed ProBE criteria. The key features of the methodology are as follows: ● Agencies are required to conduct assessment of their respective websites throughout the year; ● Parents agencies played a vital role in monitoring as well as approving their agencies to be able to conduct the self-assessment; ● During the self-assessment process, each agency is required to record

As these forests are logged, their social values as generators of rural incomes and their environmental services as biodiversity reserves, carbon sinks, soil reserves, and watersheds tend to diminish. Despite these facts, most governments in the tropics are unable to resist logging these forests in favor of national economic objectives, including: creation of a forest industrial sector, higher employment, positive balance of payments, and increased government revenues. However, given the high economic stakes that can be obtained from their forests, it is seems counterintuitive that tropical governments rarely succeed in optimally harnessing government revenue from this valuable natural resource. This staggering loss of revenue to developing countries obviously has important implications for economic development. Timber revenue could be used, for example, to finance the kind of strategic industrial policies that allow the high performing Asian economies to achieve high levels of economic growth. This dissertation argues that states with rain forests are often unable to collect optimal revenue from the massive profit earned by timber companies that harvest state forests because this profit already has a hidden destination.

    14/11/2002 SPDP holds first meeting headed by Mawan KUCHING, Wed. - The newly-formed Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party held its first meeting-cum-briefing here today attended by representatives from 55 former divisions of the deregistered Sarawak National Party (SNAP). SPDP pro-tem president Datuk William Mawan Ikom described the meeting as a `new era' after eight months of leadership crisis in SNAP which climaxed in its deregistration on Nov 5 and the registration of SPDP three days later. "This meeting will also chart the direction where we will go and within the Barisan Nasional context," he said in his opening speech. He said SPDP members needed to change in tandem with time and political situation. Mawan, who is the State Environment and Public Health Minister, said what happened during the meeting of the SNAP central executive committee on April 20, 2002, was the tip of the iceberg. (At that meeting, he and eight other party leaders walked out before voting took place to sack Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing from SNAP). "What happened in SNAP has become history, but its spirit and struggle must go on through SPDP," he said, adding that the formation of SPDP was a way of rehabilitating SNAP members as indicated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad when commenting on its deregistration recently. He said the meeting today was to endorse the steps that had been taken by the party leaders as well as to show the party's appreciation to Dr Mahathir, his deputy Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud for their sympathetic attitude to former SNAP members.
