BIOGRAPHY the Lion Roars Again - the Narnia Story So Far… the First 20 Years
PAGE 1/4 BIOGRAPHY The Lion roars again - The Narnia story so far… the first 20 years. Vocalist Christian Liljegren and guitarist CJ Grimmark met for the first time in 1993, in Jönköping - a town in the south of Sweden. At this time Christian and his band Modest Attraction were just about to release their first album, The Truth in Your Face, and CJ was active as bandleader, vocalist & guitarist in a local band called Sentinel. They remained in steady contact during the years that followed. In 1996 Modest Attraction released its second album Divine Luxury. At that time Liljegren phoned Grimmark and asked him whether he was interested in working together on a musical vision Liljegren had in mind. Since the late 80´s Christian had had a huge passion for bombastic, melodic, neoclassical hard rock & heavy metal, which he was not able to explore in the band Modest Attraction. CJ was instantly interested. After having seen the animated movie about the The Witch & The Lion, Christian figured “Narnia” would be great name for the new band. A few months later, as Modest Attraction guitarist Stephan Mohlin had to turn down a German tour for personal reasons, Christian phoned CJ and asked him to temporarily replace Stephan, which he did. Stephan soon left the band all together, and Grimmark was asked to become a full-time band member. Grimmark accepted. During the time with Modest Attraction Liljegren and Grimmark kept working on their vision of the new band. They took a few old songs from Borderline, Modest Attraction & Sentinel, altered them to their own preferences, and added a couple of new songs. -

Sven Claudio Werner Alex Dany Sieber Festini Schweizer K”stli Sch”rz Bass Guitars Vocals Drums Keyboards www.kharma.ch [email protected] It was a remarkable evening back in May 2004, when Werner öW”n”õ Schweizer (ex-SATROX), Sven Sieber (ex-SLAM DUNK), Toby Spirig (ex-ANEXXE) and Claudio Festini (ex-CORONA) hooked up for a jam session. It immediately became evident that this was one of those magic moments where four established musicians found their collective soul. Two groovy songs were written during one night, which generated appetite for so much more. The story of each individual musician continued, and the new Band öKHARMAõ was born. Later on the long awaited fifth member Dani Sch”rz (ex-SATROX) joined the band as keyboard- Player adding to the well-fitting atmosphere to the KHARMA Sound. As Claudio Festini and his Les Paul came up with their heavy Riffs, Licks and Fills they were immediately assimilated by the other members. Werner Schweizerùs phenomenal voice and the groove section impersonated by Toby Spirig and Sven Sieber made up the songs, which will make everybodyùs hardrockinù heart miss a beat. New songs have been written, more and more breathtaking arrangements have seen the light of day. The result is a rocksound reflecting the high grade of the five musicians each of them being active for more than two decades. As things are changing Toby left KHARMA in October 2007 and was replaced by Alex K”stli, the so created sensational rhythm section leave the axeman Claudio Festini a lot of space for his heavy riffs. -

Recommended Ccm Artists & Bands of a Specific Musical
RECOMMENDED CHRISTIAN-LABEL ARTISTS & BANDS OF A SPECIFIC MUSICAL GENRE In compiling this list I realize that some artists/bands mainly perform one particular style of music and other artists perform across several musical styles or genres. I have therefore endeavored to be as specific as possible and name particular albums of the artist/band that, in my view, are outstanding in a particular musical genre. NB. ‘v.s.’ stands for ‘vocal similarities’ ‘m.s.’ stands for ‘musical similarities’ Adult Contemporary/Pop Bob Carlisle – what a voice! John Elefante – brilliant vocalist (formerly with Kansas) Jon Gibson – the closest CCM gets to Stevie Wonder (‘Body & Soul’ & ‘Love Education’ CDs highly recommended) Amy Grant – esp. her ‘Lead Me On’ & ‘Behind The Eyes’ CD’s Paul Q-Pek: ‘Touch The Ground’ CD (v.s. to Peter Gabriel at times) Connie Scott: ‘Live To Tell’ (her strongest effort) Michael W. Smith: esp. his ‘The Big Picture’ CD (his magnum opus – contains great keyboard work) Out Of The Grey – quality ‘art pop’ if there is such a genre (great female vocals and guitar work) 2nd Chapter Of Acts – the pioneer of multi-vocal groups (they harmonized well without sounding ‘sugary/syrupy’) Sheila Walsh – esp. her ‘Shadowlands’ CD (excellent) Roma Waterman – she possesses the voice range of England’s Kate Bush (with v.s. at times); one of Australia’s best female vocalists Alternative/Indie/Modern Rock Adam Again – anything by them, but esp. their ‘Homeboys’ CD ApologetiX: ‘Ticked’ CD (a brilliant re-working [parodies] of well-known mainstream alternative/indie songs) Battered Fish – esp. the ‘Modern’ CD (brilliant!) The Choir – anything by them (‘Chase The Kangaroo’ & ‘Circle Slide’ CD’s are absolute alternative gems) Dear Ephesus: ‘The Absent Sounds Of Me’ CD (brilliant emo!) Dumpster: ‘See Through Me’ & ‘sky-fi’ CD’s Henrys, The: ‘She’s My Hallelujah’ EP (brilliant and oh-so-laid-back, leaving you wanting for more) Michael Knott – esp. -
Cultural Heritage and History in the Metal Scene
_Cultural Heritage and History in the Metal Scene _reem saouma_sophia molpheta simon pille_stefan de klepper Cultural heritage and History in the Metal Scene Cultural Heritage And History in the Metal Scene Belvedere Chair in The Chairgroup Land Use Planning Roel During, Marieke Muilwijk Wageningen, October 2007 Stefan de Klepper_forest and nature conservation Sophia Molpheta_landscape architecture and planning Simon Pille_landscape architecture and planning Reem Saouma_landscape architecture and planning abstract abstract This paper represents an inquiry on the use of history and cultural heritage in the metal scene. It is an attempt to show how history and cultural heritage can possibly be spread among people using an unconventional way. The followed research method was built on an explorative study that included an analysis of elements of the music, such as lyrics, performance and fashion, together with interviews of bands and people from the metal scene. However, the study focused on five different metal styles in Europe: the early metal (60’s and early 70’s), The new wave of British heavy metal (around the 80’s), the Swedish death metal (’90-present), the Norwegian black metal (’90-present) and the folk metal (mid 90’s-present). The analysis shows that cultural history plays a role in certain styles of metal or particular bands. Especially in Black metal and in the closely related Viking metal, the use of history and cultural heritage is most common. There are bands within these styles that tell stories through their lyrics and express the historical feeling by the overall image and appearances at concerts. The research shows how history and cultural heritage are used by many bands as an inspiration as well as how it can play a role in forming a common identity among fans and musicians. -

The Theater Equation
So sind u.a. James LaBrie (Dream Theater), Heather Findlay (ex-Mostly Autumn), Devon Graves (Psychotic Waltz, Dead Soul Tribe),Eric Clayton (Saviour Machine) und Marcela Bovio (Stream of Passion) zu hören, sowie als zusätzliche Beteiligte u.a.Anneke Van Giersbergen (ex-The Gathering).
