Statistical Yearbook 2019
STATISTICAL YEARBOOK 2019 Welcome to the 2019 BFI Statistical Yearbook. Compiled by the Research and Statistics Unit, this Yearbook presents the most comprehensive picture of film in the UK and the performance of British films abroad during 2018. This publication is one of the ways the BFI delivers on its commitment to evidence-based policy for film. We hope you enjoy this Yearbook and find it useful. 3 The BFI is the lead organisation for film in the UK. Founded in 1933, it is a registered charity governed by Royal Charter. In 2011, it was given additional responsibilities, becoming a Government arm’s-length body and distributor of Lottery funds for film, widening its strategic focus. The BFI now combines a cultural, creative and industrial role. The role brings together activities including the BFI National Archive, distribution, cultural programming, publishing and festivals with Lottery investment for film production, distribution, education, audience development, and market intelligence and research. The BFI Board of Governors is chaired by Josh Berger. We want to ensure that there are no barriers to accessing our publications. The Beatles, Taylor Swift, Jessie Buckley Y Oscar De La Renta

Cite as: . Mr. Ritwik Kaikini 2020, The Stare of a Locked Cupboard in Sciphiweb Repository on Science, Philosophy & Gaming, Retrieve from : http//sciphiweb.com/blogdetails.php?id=VGxSBIBRPTO= Film Review The Stare of a Locked Cupboard A review of Judy (2019) directed by Rupert Goold, Produced by David Livingstone, Screenplay by Tom Edge, Based on End of the Rainbow by Peter Quilter, starring Renée Zellweger, Finn Wittrock, Jessie Buckley, Rufus Sewell, Michael Gambon. Music by Gabriel Yared, Cinematography Ole Bratt Birkeland, Edited by Melanie Ann Oliver Production Company Pathe BBC Films Calamity Films BFI: Jude, released on 27 September 2019 (United States) Ritwik Kaikini The gaze on the eyes of the worn out actress is stern. It is shaky with vibrations from an overworked, sleepless past. Carrying a forced smile she tries to sway her loving audience. An audience which feeds on her personality like devouring a well dressed cake with a delicious frosting. But little does the audience know that if they take a bite from that cake, they will taste something sour in the center. The sweetness is just an escape. The film opens with the nervous, wide-eyed, young Judy Garland (played by Darci Shaw) on the sets of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ in 1939, staring directly at us while the vicious Louis B. Mayer(played by Richard Cordery), the producer lurking in the shadows, advises her that if she were to quit her creative career, leave the sets and live a ‘normal’ life like all the other girls out there, she would be forgotten forever and swallowed up like a raindrop in the Pacific Ocean. -

An Introduction to Early Modern Sex and Gender At the level of biology, the early modern conception of sexual difference was, in many ways, much more fluid and less rigidly compartmentalized than our contemporary constructs. Galen’s second-century one-sex theory of male and female anatomy was commonly accepted by not only the general public, but also physicians and scientists, until the end of the sixteenth century (Schiebinger 76).
