Oxley Nature Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A total of 342 taxa from 75 families and 237 genera were collected from four main vegetation types. The families Asteraceae and Poaceae were the largest, with 49 and 42 taxa, respectively. Fifty-eight exotic taxa were found, representing 17% of the total flora. When we found the species in early September, the inflorescences were just beginning to emerge from the "boot." Very often, only the distal portions of the leaf-blade are visible because of the sand which is constantly washed over the plants. Phippsia is the only vascular plant that grows right in the stream channels. The extreme rarity of Phippsia in the region may be due to the scarcity of relatively level wet areas at the high altitudes at which it grows. High lakes with gently sloping boggy margins are not common. It is probable that at the Summit Lake locality there exists a complex array of climatic and edaphic. con- ditions and seasonal rhythms which are rarely met with elsewhere and which are not easily detected by our present tools of ecologi- cal analysis. It is also possible that future exploration may show that Phippsia is more common in the Colorado Rockies than is now assumed. I personally doubt this, but the fact remains that, by and large, the alpine regions of Colorado are still relatively un- known botanically. Browne, Habracanthus Nees, Cylindrosolenium Lindau, Hansteinia Oerst.) son subordinados como sinónimos y, tres especies endémicas son adicionadas para el país. Preston Cambridge, England Corresponding author: [email protected] This pdf constitutes the Version of Record published on 26th February 2020 Abstract Vascular plants in flower along a fixed 3.8 km route in eight streets in a primarily residential area of urban Cambridge, U.K., were recorded at monthly intervals between January 2016 and December 2019. There was a consistent annual pattern over the four years; the number of flowering species was greatest in June or July but there were still appreciable numbers of species flowering when totals were at their lowest in February or March. Five annuals (Capsella bursa-pastoris, Euphorbia peplus, Poa annua, Senecio vulgaris, Stellaria media) and one perennial (Parietaria judaica) were very frequent and flowered from January to December. Perennial species showed greater variation through the year than annual species. In most months the number of flowering British native species exceeded the combined number of archaeophytes and neophytes, but the native total peaked earlier in the summer and then declined more rapidly than that of the introductions. The transect method appeared to be effective in identifying the main annual phenological trends and also revealed the effects of extreme weather on the patterns in some seasons. Several features, such as the genus’ highly fragmented distribution as well as noticeable ecological differentiation between partially sympatric species and presence of ploidy barriers between species suggest the involvement of different speciation types in its evolution. The aims of this study were to test the monophyly of Cymbalaria and to reconstruct infrageneric phylogenetic relationships, to infer the genus’ biogeographic history by estimating divergence times and ancestral distribution areas of lineages, and to disentangle the role of different speciation types. To address these issues, we constructed a phylogeny with a complete taxon sampling based on ITS, 3'ETS, ndhF and rpl32-trnL sequences. We used the nuclear ribosomal DNA data to produce a time-calibrated phylogeny, which served as basis for estimating ploidy level evolution and biogeographic history. -

Majuro Atoll THE VASCULAR PLANTS OF MAJURO ATOLL, REPUBLIC OF THE MARSHALL ISLANDS ABSTRACT Majuro Atoll has been a center of activity for the Marshall Islands since 1944 and is now the major population center and port of entry for the country. Previous to the accompanying study, no thorough documentation has been made of the vascular plants of Majuro Atoll. There were only reports that were either part of much larger discussions on the entire Micronesian region or the Marshall Islands as a whole, and were of a very limited scope. Previous reports by Fosberg, Sachet & Oliver (1979, 1982, 1987) presented only 115 vascular plants on Majuro Atoll. In this study, 563 vascular plants have been recorded on Majuro. INTRODUCTION The accompanying report presents a complete flora of Majuro Atoll, which has never been done before. It includes a listing of all species, notation as to origin (i.e. indigenous, aboriginal introduction, recent introduction), as well as the original range of each. The major synonyms are also listed. For almost all, English common names are presented. Marshallese names are given, where these were found, and spelled according to the current spelling system, aside from limitations in diacritic markings. A brief notation of location is given for many of the species. The entire list of 563 plants is provided to give the people a means of gaining a better understanding of the nature of the plants of Majuro Atoll. -

Abstract Administered by the USDA Forest Service, the Kiowa and Rita Blanca National Grasslands occupy 230,000 acres of public land extending from northeastern New Mexico into the panhandles of Oklahoma and Texas. A mosaic of topographic features including canyons, plateaus, rolling grasslands and outcrops supports a diverse flora. Eight hundred twenty six (826) species of vascular plant species representing 81 plant families are known to occur on or near these public lands. This report includes a history of the area; ethnobotanical information; an introductory overview of the area including its climate, geology, vegetation, habitats, fauna, and ecological history; and a plant survey and information about the rare, poisonous, and exotic species from the area. A vascular plant checklist of 816 vascular plant taxa in the appendix includes scientific and common names, habitat types, and general distribution data for each species. This list is based on extensive plant collections and available herbarium collections. Authors Donald L. (Orobanchaceae) in Iran Shahryar Saeidi Mehrvarz, Sayad Roohi, Iraj Mehrgan & Elham Roudi Summary: Comparative morphological, anatomical and palynological studies on six species Euphrasia L. (Orobanchaceae) in Iran are presented using plants collected from their type localities and many other populations. Euphrasia petiolaris and E. sevanensis are reported for the flora of Iran for the first time. In terms of anatomy, the phloem/xylem proportion in vascular bundles of stem and root, presence or absence of collenchyma at the periphery of stem cortex, the number of parenchyma cell layers of stem cortex and the thickness of the vascular bundle in the leaf midrib provide valuable characters in distinguishing species. According to the obtained results, the pollen morphology seems also to be taxonomically valuable. The main shapes observed among investigated taxa were spheroidal, oblate- spheroidal and prolate-spheroidal. The pollen grains were tricolpate and microrugulate, micropilate and microgemmate on exine surface. The relationships between taxa were estimated by analyzing the scored morphological, anatomical and palynological data using the Euclidian distance coefficient and UPGMA clustering method. Keys are provided for identification of the species of Euphrasia in Iran based on both morphological and anatomical features. Abstract: This study analyzed the flora, life form, and vegetation of the Nakdong River wetland. Vegetation analysis was performed on 37 plots using the phytosociological method of the Zürich- Montpellier School. PCA analysis was conducted by using the vegetation data (ground cover of class; 1~9) of 37 plots surveyed by phytosociological method. PCA (Principal Component Analysis) was used to statistically analyze the objectivity of the community classification and the character species. The traditional classification and mathematical statistic methods were used. A total of 82 taxa belonging to 28 families, 65 genera, 72 species, 2 subspecies, and 8 varieties were present in the vegetation of the survey area. The life form was analyzed to be the Th-R5-D4-e type.
