Goodbye, Preston"
"GOODBYE, PRESTON" by Mark Hopper & Johnny Smith Based on a true story Mark Hopper 1035 N Sweetzer Ave West Hollywood, CA 90069 415-729-6108 [email protected] WGAw Copyright (c) 2010 This screenplay may not be used or reproduced without the express written permission of the author FADE IN: West Hollywood, California, the early 90's. Dusk. Palm trees and weakening sunshine. A pink sky. Camera pans and rests on a building, THE GOLD COAST, a dive gay bar, situated right on Santa Monica Blvd. Camera begins to zoom into doorway. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana starts to play. CUT TO: INT. THE GOLD COAST - NIGHT A typical gay bar scene. Darkened room, loud music, a moderate amount of flashing lights. Loud laughter and the occasional crack of the pool balls can be heard over the din. Various shots of the action: men playing pool, men at the bar drinking, guys along the wall chatting and/or looking standoff-ish. One final pan and the camera rests on RICHIE HAMILTON, a lanky, long-haired white male in his mid 20's. He’s standing along the wall, observing the crowd. It’s his usual tradition. Maybe spot a familiar face, maybe meet someone new, who knows. Richie tilts back his glass of bourbon for the last sip, drinks, then heads to the bar for another cocktail. Just as he crosses the doorway, he almost bumps into PRESTON, who’s entering the establishment. Preston, also in his mid 20's, is dark-haired, slightly rugged and drop dead gorgeous. -

Torrey says, “I like the tactile quality of the art and the energy transmitted from the heart and hand, through gouges and knives to wood, and then with ink to paper.” ’ The Chrysalis Reader is a journal of spiritual discovery published in honor of Emanuel Swedenborg. An eighteenth-century scientist, civil engineer, and mystic, Swedenborg used his scientific orientation to explore the world of spirit. Respectful of all lives lived according to faith in the divine, Swedenborg described the ever-present reality of the spiritual world. 1Wellness.qxd 7/19/03 4:23 PM Page iii Eternal Wellness , , , 1Wellness.qxd 7/19/03 4:23 PM Page v Eternal Wellness , , , Edited by Carol S. TO HEAR the ANGELS SING DOROTHY MACLEAN Dorothy Maclean Is One of the Three Founders of the Findhorn Community in Scotland
TO HEAR THE ANGELS SING DOROTHY MACLEAN ANGELS SING DOROTHY THE TO HEAR Dorothy Maclean is one of the three founders of the Findhorn Community in Scotland. Following her inner contact with the Divine she came to communicate with the devic or angelic realms that To Hear over-light all aspects of existence. The success and subsequent fame of the Findhorn gardens arose in part from Dorothy’s telepathic contact with these kingdoms. She now travels the world giving workshops and talks about her own inner practices The Angels Sing and attunement to the Beloved. Many of the messages she received are included in this book. Their simple wisdom cannot fail to quicken an awareness of our birthright as conscious partners with all the evolutionary streams of life. “Yes, I talk with angels, great Beings whose lives infuse and create all of Nature. In another time and culture I might have been cloistered in a convent or a temple, or, less pleasantly, burnt at the stake as a witch. In our skeptical time and culture, such a claim is more likely to be met with scoffing disbelief or as the ramblings of a dreamy female. Being a practical, down-to-earth person, I bad never set out to learn to talk with angels, nor had I ever imagined that such contact would be possible or useful. Yet, when this communication began to occur, it d id so in a way that I could not dispute.” From wartime employment with the British government to co-founding the Findhorn community, and later the Lorian Association in the United States and Canada, Dorothy Maclean’s life-story is an inspiring account of a journey through self-discovery to an awareness of those forces which overlight and give order to creation — the angelic kingdoms. -

Creative workers like actors, producers, and writers come to L.A. to pursue dreams of stardom, especially in the Hollywood film and television media industries. For most, a “big break” into their chosen field remains perpetually out of reach despite their constant efforts. Expensive workshops like acting classes, networking events, and chance encounters are seen as keys to Hollywood success. Within this world, rumors swirl of big breaks for devotees in the city’s spiritual and religious organizations. For others, it is in consultations with local spiritual advisors like professional psychics that they navigate everyday decisions of how to achieve success in Hollywood. -
Many Ways, Middle Way, No Way
Praise for Many Ways, Middle Way, No Way Hollywood Buddhism Sizzles! Michael Attie knows his dharma, and understands show-biz, and he puts the two together in this profound, lighthearted and often touching book. Attie will take you with him to visit the esteemed Zen master Sasaki Roshi or the Hindu saint Neem Karoli Baba, and then to meditate in his ‘Don't Worry Zendo’ or at the Playmates lingerie meditation hall. Can you find universal consciousness through the Feather Boa Dance? Read this book and find out! You'll have a good time on the way. —Wes Nisker, author Crazy Wisdom, (Ten Speed Press) Michael Attie’s Many Ways, Middle Way, No Way examines Buddhism’s many facets—its principles and practices, its lineages, and its consonance with other disciplines—all the time reminding us not to take anything too seriously. Attie’s approach is encyclopedic, thoughtful, compassionate, and best of all, gently outrageous. —Jeff Kane, author The Healing Companion, (HarperSanFrancisco) A witty, compassionate, reverential and wise description of meditation and ordinary spiritual practice by a wandering pilgrim whose understanding matured immeasurably at midlife when he became the owner of “the world’s largest lingerie store.” Based upon his personal experiences, Attie describes an unconventional, self-authenticated, non- authoritarian spiritual practice drawn from Eastern devotional traditions and meditation techniques that embraces everyday life and promotes relationship and the collective experience. Attie’s romp through Eastern mysticism and practice illuminates, instructs and celebrates life’s juxtaposition of chaos, passion, music, poetry, art, travel and people with spiritual practice. His world is a warm place filled with love, humor and appreciation. -

Steve Vai The Bodhi Tree VaiTunes #7 (9:26) VaiTunes VaiTunes It’s not uncommon for a musician to record more work than they release. In my case I have a digital ocean of snippets in various degrees of completion. Some are leftovers from assorted project recording sessions, projects that were never completed, sound check jams, demo snippets, etc. 7KHUHDUHHQRXJKORQHO\XQUHOHDVHGQRWHVLQP\ZRUOGWRÀOO DQ´LQÀQLW\VKHOIµVaiTunes are tracks that are culled from this melodic abyss, brushed off, sometimes severely hosed down, and released as digital singles. 7KHVHWUDFNVPD\EHVSHFLÀFWRDSDUWLFXODUSURMHFWWKDWKDVQHYHU had the chance to be a completed big picture, but now, with the advent of all this digital technology and distribution, it’s possible to release a variety of tracks from a potential project without having to complete the whole project itself. Eventually, if there are enough tracks completed that fall into a precise endeavor, perhaps they will be compiled and released as a cohesive CD. In any event, it’s a good way to release a constant stream of music.
