This is with good reason – these places are to Düsseldorf what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris. The state capital of North Rhine-West- phalia has even more to offer. Recent years have seen the development of a thriving young alternative scene in Düsseldorf. Up-and-coming quarters such as Flingern, Bilk and Deren dorf are becoming red-hot forges of original art, culture, fashion and music. This brochure provides information on getting to Düssel- dorf, accommodation, events, sightseeing, shopping and many many tips. 2 PLAces TO BE The various city quarters each have their own trend-set- ting shops, pubs, clubs, bars and cafés.
