LONG SUMMARY Molly Shannon plays Emily Dickinson in the dramatic comedy " Wild Nights with Emily." The poet’s persona, popularized since her death, became that of a reclusive spinster – a delicate wallflower, too sensitive for this world. This film explores her vivacious, irreverent side that was covered up for years — most notably Emily’s lifelong romantic relationship with another woman (Susan Ziegler). After Emily died, a rivalry emerged when her brother's mistress (Amy Seimetz) along with editor T.W. -
Gossip Girl Viral Promotion Problem Statement
Group 4 - Round Table Media Case 14-1: Gossip Girl Viral Promotion Problem Statement: The CW’s show Gossip Girl has lost live viewers, which decreases the value of the advertising spots available during the show. The network seeks to increase live viewership by incentivizing viewers via a creative, viral campaign to watch Gossip Girl live instead of recording the show and watching it later. Critical Factors: A. The primary target market for this campaign is women, 18-24 years of age. The CW is the only network capturing women in this target. The secondary target market is college males. B. Increased use of digital video recorders, websites streaming television shows, and services like DirecTV and Tivo means that viewers are choosing to record shows and watch them later, and can fast forward through commercials.1 C. The CW has requested this campaign be a non-traditional and outside-the-box publicity and promotional campaign. The CW network executives highly admired Jack in the Box’s “Hang in There Jack” campaign and its use of non-traditional media. D. The CW Network has fourteen weeks to launch a viral Gossip Girl media campaign before the next season premiere, then the campaign will continue while Gossip Girl airs. E. Gossip Girl emphasizes fashion and technology, and is influential in these industries. F. The success of the promotional campaign will be measured by changes in ratings during the time of the campaign, and hopefully will result in a significant increase in ratings. G. Gossip Girl is one of The CW’s most popular series, so it is understood that we are working with a large budget. -

The Dominant Eye: Dominant for Parvo- but Not for Magno-Biased Stimuli?
vision Article The Dominant Eye: Dominant for Parvo- But Not for Magno-Biased Stimuli? Brian K. Foutch 1,* and Carl J. Bassi 2 1 Rosenberg School of Optometry, University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, TX 78209, USA 2 College of Optometry, University of Missouri-St Louis, St. Louis, MO 63121, USA; [email protected] * Correspondence: [email protected]; Tel.: +1-210-930-8162 Received: 4 September 2019; Accepted: 8 March 2020; Published: 12 March 2020 Abstract: Eye dominance is often defined as a preference for the visual input of one eye to the other. Implicit in this definition is the dominant eye has better visual function. Several studies have investigated the effect of visual direction or defocus on ocular dominance, but there is less evidence connecting ocular dominance and monocular visual thresholds. We used the classic “hole in card” method to determine the dominant eye for 28 adult observers (11 males and 17 females). We then compared contrast thresholds between the dominant and non-dominant eyes using grating stimuli biased to be processed more strongly either by the magnocellular (MC) or parvocellular (PC) pathway. Using non-parametric mean rank tests, the dominant eye was more sensitive overall than the non-dominant eye to both stimuli (z = 2.54, p = 0.01). The dominant eye was also more sensitive − to the PC-biased stimulus (z = 2.22, p = 0.03) but not the MC-biased stimulus (z = 1.16, p = 0.25). We − − discuss the clinical relevance of these results as well as the implications for parallel visual pathways. Keywords: dominant eye; contrast; parvocellular; magnocellular 1. -

May 2013 Prison Break
Prison Break Correctional Liability Update May 2013 Housing Gang Members Together: Can a Blood and a Crip Just Get Along? By Susan E. Coleman Inmates who are assaulted by other inmates, whether cell mates, co- workers, or inmates on the yard, often sue prison administrators for failing to protect them. After all, the Eighth Amendment has been interpreted by the courts to include a duty to protect prisoners. However, a vague risk of harm simply because prisons are violent places which house dangerous criminals is not enough to create liability; something more specific is required. In the case of Labatad v. Corrections Corporation of America, et al, decided on May 1, 2013, the Ninth Circuit found that even housing rival gang members together was insufficient under the circumstances to find that defendants were deliberately indifferent. Labatad, a State of Hawaii inmate incarcerated at the Saguaro Correctional Center, operated by the Corrections Corporation of America Susan E. (“CCA”), was assaulted by his cellmate in July 2009. Naturally, Labatad Coleman is sued CCA for failing to protect him, alleging deliberate indifference to a partner at his safety under the Eighth Amendment. Because Labatad’s assailant the law firm was a member of a rival prison gang, this suit might at first blush seem of Burke, to have some merit, in that prison officials should be aware of Williams & longstanding prison gang rivalries. For example, in California it would Sorensen, be highly unusual to house a Black Guerrilla Family associate with a where she Mexican Mafia affiliate, and some would argue that a violent specializes confrontation would be foreseeable. -
