TMP-Marian High School Life Prep Academy

December 3 December 4 December 5 Welcome to Hays High School and the 38th Annual Gerald Mitchell Hays City Shootout Tournament, one of the most reputable tournaments in the State of Kansas! Thank you for taking an active role in the interest of your school. We believe strongly that high school activities are vital to the overall success of our school and provide the incentive for school spirit, peer friendships, and family involvement. Without the help of many, our tournament would not be possible. Thank you to our many merchant advertisers! We thank USD 489 Superintendent Ron Wilson and the USD 489 Board of Education for their endless support. We also want to thank Mrs. Hart’s “Project Management” class for creating and developing the Gerald Mitchell Hays City Shootout program and promotional materials.

Enjoy your stay in Hays, Kansas and we hope your experience is very positive! Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

KSHSAA RULE 52 – SPORTSMANSHIP

We believe that academic and athletic programs must do merely more than co-exist. They must be integrated and support each other in different areas. The concept ofSPORTSMANSHIP must be taught, modeled, expected, and reinforced in the classroom and at all competitive activities. Therefore, all Kansas State High School Association members, including Hays High, stand together in support of the following sportsmanship philosophies. Activities are an important aspect of the total education process in the American schools. They provide an arena for participants to grow, to excel, to understand, and to value the concepts of SPORTSMANSHIP, to build school pride, and to increase student/community involvement. Activities are also an opportunity for the community to demonstrate its support for the participants and the school, and to model the concepts of SPORTSMANSHIP for the youth as respected representatives of society. 1. Be courteous to all. (Participants, coaches, officials, staff, and fans.) 2. Know the rules, abide by and respect the officials’ decisions. 3. Win with character and lose with dignity. 4. Display appreciation for good performance regardless of the team. 5. Exercise self-control and reflect positively upon yourself, team, and school. 6. Permit only positive sportsmanlike behavior to reflect on your school and its activities.

In accordance with Kansas State Fire Marshall regulations, we request that you take a moment to identify two emergency exits closest to you. We have checked these exits and the other emergency equipment in this building and verify they are available for use in case of an emergency. In case of emergency, pay close attention to the announcer for important life safety information.
