La nascita del GIRO venne formalizzata con un annuncio sulla Gazzetta dello Sport nel 1908 con la promessa di 25000 lire di premio al vincitore e la volontà di organizzare una delle prove più ambite e maggiori del ciclismo internazionale. Il giro del 2000 prese il via da Roma per celebrare il Giubileo. Dopo una 1 settimana dedicata ai velocisti arrivarono le prime montagne e subito CASAGRANDE prese la maglia rosa, sull'Abetone staccando di 1'39” gli avversari. Casagrande riuscì a controllare la corsa nonostante gli attacchi di SIMONI e di GARZELLI la gara si decise nella crono scalata del Sestriere del penultimo giro con la rimonta e il successo di GARZELLI al 3 posto fini SIMONI. Nel 2002 la corsa partì dai Paesi Bassi e percorse Germania, Belgio, Francia e Lussemburgo, per celebrare l'Unione Europea. Protagonista di inizio giro fu GARZELLI in maglia rosa già dal 3 giorno. Trovato positivo fu squalificato il primato temporaneamente passò ad un tedesco Heppner, ma a Campitello Matese vinse SIMONI ma anche lui venne squalificato per doping. Alla fine dopo un duello entusiasmante SAVOLDELLI vinse la crono ed il giro. L'edizione del 2003 nel duello con Garzelli prevalse SIMONI che vinse il suo 2 giro. L'edizione del 2004 partiva con il ricordo della scomparsa di Mario PANTANI, ad una prima sfida tra CUNEGO e SIMONI, con l'ucraino POPOVIC la spuntò CUNEGO che si assicurò 4 tappe e il giro stesso. Nell'anno 2006 si partì dal Belgio per ricordare i minatori morti nel 1956, soprattutto italiani, dopo la 1 settimana BASSO si scatenò dominando la corsa e si aggiudicò il giro 3 arrivò SIMONI. Nell'anno 2008 partì dalla Sicilia diversi atleti portarono la maglia rosa nelle prime 2 settimane di corsa. Con le prime salite si mise in evidenza Emanuele SELLA vincitore a sorpresa tuttavia CONTADOR nonostante gli attacchi di PELLIZZOTTI. Alla fine vince

The aim is to manage the risk of avalanches, low coast with systems and ensure access to the ski resort, famous from the point of view of tourism, with a few million visitors per year, waiting to carry out works passive and active commissioning safe slope and stabilization of the snowpack. The idea is to use technology wireless sensors (WSN) with accelerometers and ropes to pull that, in case of an incident, fire both signal lights, the Authority is concerned, is a special plan of civil protection for the safety and the reclamation of the area subject to avalanches.
