The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport conducted a nationwide survey in 2002, which made clear the important role that sport plays in the lives of Canadians, as well as Canadians’ strong desire to uphold a model of sport that reflects and teaches positive values like fairness, inclusion, and excellence. In September of 2003, leading sports officials, sports champions, parents and kids from across Canada came together through a symposium entitled “The Sport We Want.” Several strong messages emerged from this gathering.

While visiting a surplus store in Chicago, executive member Jack Fyffe found a set of green and white uniforms at a great price and purchased them for the Roughriders. 3. Answer: d) Mosaic Stadium at Taylor Field. Named for Neil J. “Piffles” Taylor who served as president of the Regina Roughriders, Canadian Rugby Unions & Western Interprovincial Football Union. His toughness was legendary. On the football field his artificial glass eye was lost during a tackle. Play stopped while players from both teams hunted for the missing eye. When found, Taylor cleaned it, then popped it back into its socket and resumed play. 4. Answer: a) Greg Grassick. Canadian football comes from rugby, which does not allow forward passing. At the time there was no specific rule against it, it just wasn’t done. The forward pass allowed the Regina (Saskatchewan) Roughriders to dominate Western Canadian football from 1927-1932. 5. Answer: d) George Reed. George had 137 Rushing touchdowns for the Green and White. The next closest total is 125 held by Mike Pringle. The CFL will host regional combines for the fourth consecutive year, and the third-year it will host a trio of them beginning in Edmonton on March 7, followed by one in Montreal on March 9 and the final regional combine in Toronto on March 10. Last year, 11 players from regional combines were extended an invitation to the National CFL Combine including seven of those players being selected in the 2015 CFL Draft. 12 of the first 13 selections from the 2015 CFL Draft participated in the National CFL Combine last year. The CFL, with input from all teams, will then invite additional players from the regional combines to the national Combine in Toronto depending on player performance. Each regional combine will invite approximately 40 to 45 football players. The top players eligible for the upcoming 2016 CFL Draft, as ranked collectively by the teams and the league office, are invited to attend the National CFL Combine presented by adidas.
