We discover that Abanaza wants to find the location of the magic lamp which will allow him to control the powerful Genie Gang Nam. He casts a spell which keeps Su Shi and Gang Nam apart. Scene One (Old Beijing) The girls of Old Beijing swoon over local ‘catch’ Wishee Washee meanwhile Widow Twankey is threatened by the Emperor to pay her rent or risk eviction. As a compromise, Twankey agrees that Aladdin will work in the Palace cleaning toilets to repay the debt to the Emperor. ⁃ 1. Opening Number - Bright and Cheerful ⁃ 2. Song (Hanky Panky with Twankey, suggest ‘Shake it Off’ or similar) - Twankey, Chorus & Dancers. ⁃ 3. Song (Goodbye to Aladdin or ‘Money Money Money’) - Twankey, Wishee and Company Scene Two (A Corridor Inside the Palace) Sirens play as the comedy policemen are hypnotised by Abanaza to capture Aladdin enabling him to use Aladdin to find the magic lamp. Meanwhile Aladdin is wondering the Palace corridors while Princess Jasmine is trying to escape, pursued by her friend and assistant So Shy. Having shared a ‘moment’ with Aladdin, watched by Abanaza, Jasmine steals away remembering Aladdin’s name. ⁃ 4. Song (Love Duet) - Aladdin and Jasmine with So Shy Scene Three (The Gardens of the Palace of Beijing) The Emperor is angry with So Shy and Jasmine for trying to escape the palace walls having found out about Jasmine’s liaison with Aladdin. Once the Emperor leaves, Aladdin who has been hiding in the bushes, tries to convince Jasmine that everything will be fine, but she tells him their love cannot succeed while her father is against it. The comedy policemen are given a good knock on the head (literally) by the Emperor for failing to protect Princess Jasmine. Twankey, Wishee and Fu Fu break into the palace trying to find Aladdin and take a family selfie with the audience. They see him upset but are interrupted by police sirens again and run for it. Scene Four (An Alleyway in Beijing) Aladdin, having escaped from Hong and Kong, wonders lonely down an alleyway. Abanaza takes his chance and watches in horror as Aladdin discovers the sparkling ring that brings Su Shi to life. Su Shi helps Aladdin realise that there is still hope for him and Jasmine and in return for her help, Aladdin agrees to try and find the lamp which houses her friend Genie Gang Nam. Abanaza is angry. ⁃ 5. Song (Suggest ‘Black Magic’) - Abanaza Scene Five (Twankey’s Mun Chin Takeaway) Wishee and Twankey are busy preparing the evening’s takeaways. Aladdin enters, upset, and they agree to cheer him up by cooking him his favourite; fish and chips. A very messy scene ensues with water, batter and flour going everywhere. Scene Six (A Mountain Path) Aladdin walks along a mountain path where he meets Abanaza who is disguised as a poor old woman and convinces him to open the magical cave of wonder. Su Shi saves Aladdin by locking Abanaza out of the cave and rushing inside to help Aladdin. Scene Seven (The Magic Cave) Aladdin and Su Shi enter the magical cave of wonder and they look for the Genie’s lamp. With a little help from the audience, they find the lamp and set Genie Gang Nam free. The Genie explains Aladdin’s three wishes and his first is to become rich enough to marry Princess Jasmine. There is a final transformation number where Aladdin is reunited with Jasmine by magic and transformed into a jewel-laden prince. ⁃ 6. Song (Aladdin’s Transformation) - Genie, Su Shi and Aladdin © Jack Northcott 2016 Aladdin Scene Summary May 2016 ACT II Scene Eight (The Garden of the Palace of Beijing) Jasmine and Aladdin are welcomed by the public, Wishee and Twankey. Local children have prepared a dance for the royal couple to help them celebrate their engagement. When the Emperor discovers what has happened, he is unhappy. A chase ensues but they are caught and sent to the dungeon. Jasmine is upset with her father and fears she’ll be on her own forever. ⁃ 9. Song (Something scary, suggest ‘Thank Goodness’ from Wicked) - Jasmine & Company ⁃ Dance (Junior Dancers) - 10. Song (Suggest ‘On My Own’ from Les Miserables) - Jasmine Scene Nine (The Royal Jail Cell) Hong and Kong drag Aladdin into the cell and he is joined by Twankey, Wishee and Fu Fu. Jasmine comes to find him and Abanaza makes a deal to help set the prisoners free in return for the magic lamp. Aladdin agrees and hands over the lamp but Abanaza doesn’t hold his side of the bargain. To get them out of the cell, Jasmine rubs her engagement ring and Su Shi appears. She suggests they fly by Magic carpet to Abanaza’a evil lair in the Valley of the Kings. - 11. Song (Suggest’Without Love’ from Hairspray) - Aladdin, Jasmine, Twankey, Wishee and Fu Fu - 12. Song (To cover the magic carpet ride, suggest ‘Magic’ by Selena Gomez) Scene Ten (The Valley of the Kings) Abanaza has appointed himself king and now uses Genie Gang Nam as a slave. Aladdin and Jasmine burst into Abanaza’s lair, closely followed by Twankey, Wishee and Fu Fu, all dressed as Ninjas. They gain control of Genie Gang Nam and prepare to topple Abanaza. He unleashes his evil Mummy, an Egyptian zombie and sets her on the others. Fu Fu saves the day by becoming a ‘kung-fu Panda’ and beating the Mummy and Abanaza. ⁃ 13. Song (Evil Song, Suggest ‘It’s a Kind of Magic’) - Abanaza and Evil Sprites Scene Eleven (On The Way Home) Hong and Kong are on the run from the Palace, Twankey and Wishee enter having caught an EasyJet back. Twankey’s luggage breaks all over the stage and Wishee enlists two members of the audience to help recover it. Scene Twelve (Back in Old Beijing) The rescue party return to Old Beijing intact. They run into the Emperor and try to convince him to bless their marriage. He responds by banishing them but Aladdin remembers that he still has a wish left. He wishes that the Emperor would give his blessing and the Genie makes it so. Aladdin and Jasmine are free to be together, Wishee and So Shy agree to give romance a try and Twankey ends up with Abanaza who has been washing dishes at the Palace. ⁃ 14. Song (Celebration Number) - Full Company Scene Thirteen (The Community Song) Hong and Kong discover Fu Fu who has chopped their police car in half. They try to order take away and Twankey has them sing their order. ⁃ 15. Song (Song Sheet, suggest ‘The Fast Food Song’) - Twankey, Fu Fu, Hong & Kong Scene Fourteen (The Palace of Beijing) The royal wedding celebrations take place and a joyful rhyme closes the show. ⁃ 16.
