If you haven't read any of his comicstrips, this is a very good overview for a beginner on Herge's life, work and inspirations. Now I definitely want to go to Herge's museum. Herge strikes me as a man with simple tastes - I don't know if he would appreciate this book by a purported 'friend'. And why all the focus on Castafiore? I like the Milanese Nightingale but there's no way she's a more important character than Calculus. Though I'd read anything Tintin related, this was a disappointment. Georges Prosper Remi [5] [6] was born on 22 May in his parental home in Etterbeek , Brussels, a central suburb in the capital city of Belgium. Remi developed a love of cinema, favouring Winsor McCay 's Gertie the Dinosaur and the films of Charlie Chaplin , Harry Langdon and Buster Keaton ; his later work in the comic strip medium displayed an obvious influence from them in style and content. The first, Tintin and the Temple of the Sun , was based on pre-existing comics, whereas the second, Tintin and the Lake of Sharks was an original story written by Greg. During the visit he also spent time in Thailand and Bali. He regularly asked any Chinese people that he met if they knew of Zhang, and in had some success when a staff member in a Brussels Chinese restaurant revealed that he was Zhang's godson.
