Heavy rains forecast within the next 24 hours in Malakand, Makran, Kalat, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir are to be accompanied by powerful gusts of wind, DawnNews quoted the PMD. Rainfull of up to 200 millimetres may occur in these areas within the next 24 hours which could cause flooding. Excess rainfall in the Kabul River catchment area may also cause flooding along connected riverbanks. However, lighter rains are expected in Sindh, south Punjab and Balochistan. Pre-monsoon rains will become monsoon rains by the end of July, and will continue till September. Potential Cyclonic Activity In Arabian Sea, the area of intense convection has concentrated into a well-marked low in Arabian Sea pressure area in last 24 hrs and now lies at a distance of about 1200km south-southeast of PMD, June 7, 2015 Karachi. The potential of developmentof Depression in next 24 hrs and a Deep Depression in next 48 hrs,after entering in North Arabian Sea, is very high. The well-marked low pressure area is likely to move north-northwest ward in next 24 hrs. The Seas conditions along Sindh-Makran coast are likely to remain rough to very rough associated with strong gusty winds from Tuesday afternoon to Friday. Cyclone Warning Centre (Karachi) of Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned the fishermen of Sindh and Balochistan as; Sindh – Fishermen of Sindh are advised not to venture in open sea from Tuesday afternoon to Thursday. Balochistan – Fishermen of Balochistan are advised not to venture in open sea from Wednesday to Friday. All stakeholders and concerned authorities are advised to keep themselves abreast about weather advisories of PMD in nextfew days to cope with the situation. Tropical Cyclone Alert in As per Pakistan Meteorological Department, the area of intense convection with associated Arabian Sea clouds cluster, in Arabian Sea, has practically not changed in intensity, moved northward in last NDMA, June 6, 2015 24 hr and now lies at a distance of about 1450 km south of Pakistan coast. The upper air analysis and the numerical models are predicting the development of a low pressure area over there in next 24 hrs, then a well-marked low pressure area after entering in the North Arabian Sea. Presently, none of the coastal areas of Pakistan are under threat and the fishermen may continue their activities till issuance of any warning. However, in view of above, it is requested that all stakeholders and concerned should be cautioned to take necessary precautionary measures to avoid any loss of lives and damage to public as well as private property.
