Vezérfonalunk - Halállistával Vezérfonalunk - halállistával Említettük már, hogy széles körű gyűjtőmunkánk mellett kitűzött feladatunk elérésében két bátor római katolikus pap vizsgálódásai kínálták írásunk számára a legértékesebb ve zérfonalat. Szűcs Márton, nyugalmazott bácsszöUősi esperesplébános és Kovács József, nyugalmazott martonosi plébános életük utolsó esztendeit arra szánták, hogy a bácskai domushistóri- ák bejegyzett adatai és a bátrabb hívek emlékezései alapján összegyűjtsék az 1944 őszén ártatlanul kivégzett bácskai ma gyarok adatait. Hagyatékuknak a Halottak hallgatása - requiem címet adták, s a címbe belefoglalták saját fizikai félelmüket is, midőn összefoglalásuk nyilvánosságra hozatalát csak haláluk után ra engedélyezték. Az adatgyűjtés, a jugoszláv államvédelmi szervek s a máig érdekelt hatóságok életveszélyes tilalmai miatt, a legnagyobb titkolózás mellett folyt. További nehézséget jelentett, hogy a legtöbb bácskai köz ségben a megfélemlített magyarok csak nagyon hiányos, hézagos nyilvántartást vezettek (Csurog, Újvidék, Zsablya, Szenttamás, Zombor, Szabadka). Ezeknek a helységeknek adatait a reánk maradt kimutatás „kb" = körülbelül jelzése kíséri. A helységneveken túl, a 2-6. oszlop adataiban bizonyos szubjektivitás csaknem mindenütt felté telezhető. Az összesítő kimutatás oszlopai: 1. a helység neve, 2. az 194l-es, a honvédek bevonulásakor elesett szerb ellenállók száma, 3. az internálás közben elpusz tultak száma 1941 és 1944 között, 4. az újvidéki kémelhárító- ban kiszenvedettek száma, 5. a razziák folyamán kivégzettek száma, 6. az összes áldozat száma 1941-től 1944-ig, 7. a megtorlásnál lemészárolt ártatlan magyarok száma, 8. a gyűjtött adatok pontosságának minősítése. A hetedik oszlopban sok a kérdőjel. Ezek mögött a kérdő jelek mögött sok esetben felderítetlen s bevallatlan áldozatok gyásza rejtőzik a föld alatt. Külön gyűjtésünk eredményeként szövegünkben több ilyen kérdőjelet saját adatainkkal feloldottunk. A helységnevek listája Bácskán kívüli magyarlakta közsé geket is felsorol. • Sand Fly and Leishmania Spp. Survey in Vojvodina (Serbia): First Detection
Vaselek et al. Parasites & Vectors (2017) 10:444 DOI 10.1186/s13071-017-2386-z RESEARCH Open Access Sand fly and Leishmania spp. survey in Vojvodina (Serbia): first detection of Leishmania infantum DNA in sand flies and the first record of Phlebotomus (Transphlebotomus) mascittii Grassi, 1908 Slavica Vaselek1*, Nazli Ayhan2, Gizem Oguz3, Ozge Erisoz Kasap3, Sara Savić4, Trentina Di Muccio5, Luigi Gradoni5, Yusuf Ozbel6, Bulent Alten3 and Dušan Petrić1 Abstract Background: Leishmaniasis in Serbia was an endemic disease, and is considered to be eradicated for more than 40 years. In the past decade sporadic cases of canine leishmaniasis started to emerge for the first time in Vojvodina Province (previously non-endemic region of Serbia). Reports of introduced, and later on autochthonous cases of leishmaniasis alerted the possibility of disease emergence. The aim of this study was to bridge more than a half a century wide gap in entomological surveillance of sand fly vectors in Vojvodina, as well as to verify the presence of the vector species that could support Leishmania spp. circulation. Results: During the period 2013–2015, a total of 136 sand flies were collected from 48 of 80 surveyed locations. Four sand fly species of the genus Phlebotomus were detected: P. papatasi, P. perfiliewi, P. mascittii and P. neglectus. Detection of P. mascittii represents the first record of this species for the sand fly fauna in Vojvodina and in Serbia. All female specimens (n = 80) were tested for Leishmania spp. DNA, and three blood-fed P. papatasi specimens were positive (4%). One positive DNA sample was successfully amplified by ITS1 nPCR.

From the 1820s the family’s progress was marked by the enlargement of their landed property. In the early twentieth century the family owned or rented about 26,473 ha of land in Vojvodina. Bogdan Dundjerski (1860–1943), the third generation landowner, was brought up in a mixture of different traditions including the ethic of Serb highlanders of Herzegovina, central-European middle classes and Hungarian nobility. A wealthy landowner, Serb patriot and benefactor, whose political role in the Second World War remains controversial, described himself as: Serb, Christian Orthodox, landowner. Keywords: Dundjerski family, landowners, Kingdom of Yugoslavia, Serbia, Vojvodina, Bačka, social transition, world wars n the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, besides a strong sense of belonging to a nation, a significant role in the life of the Serbs inI Vojvodina, a former duchy within the Habsburg realm, was played by a sense of belonging to a particular social group, where national affiliations were not necessarily prominent. From the 1820s, in the process of gradual modernization, Serb craftsmen, merchants, priests, civil servants, persons of various professions and wealthy farmers began to invest in the education of their children, thereby creating opportunities for their social advancement. Village schools, where Serb children acquired basic literacy and knowl- edge, were of particular importance. The Gymnasium in Sremski Karlovci (the seat of the Serbian Metropolitan) and the Gymnasium in Novi Sad, the largest Serbian city and cultural centre in the 1860s (known as the “Serbian Athens”), as well as the secondary schools in Vrbas and Pozsony (Bratislava), were the usual destinations of Serbian students.
