Uefa Europa League UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE - 2016/17 SEASON MATCH PRESS KITS (First leg: 0-3) Stade Geoffroy Guichard - Saint- Etienne Wednesday 22 February 2017 AS Saint-Étienne 18.00CET (18.00 local time) Manchester United FC Round of 32, Second leg Last updated 21/02/2017 03:28CET Match background 2 Legend 4 1 AS Saint-Étienne - Manchester United FC Wednesday 22 February 2017 - 18.00CET (18.00 local time) Match press kit Stade Geoffroy Guichard, Saint-Etienne Match background Manchester United abruptly ended Saint-Étienne's ten-game unbeaten sequence in Europe this season, and the French side's record against English clubs hardly augurs well for a comeback when the round of 32 tie concludes on 22 February. • Former Paris ace Zlatan Ibrahimović made it 17 goals in 14 matches against St-Étienne with a deflected free-kick, a tap-in and a penalty in United's 3-0 first-leg triumph. Previous meetings • The clubs met in the first round of the 1977/78 European Cup Winners' Cup. Dave Sexton's United earned a 1-1 first-leg draw in France, but were ordered to play the return match against Robert Herbin's side at least 200km from Manchester due to crowd trouble. • United won that fixture 2-0 at Home Park, Plymouth, Stuart Pearson and Steve Coppell the scorers. • St-Étienne's seven games against English teams have ended W1 D1 L5 (W1 D1 L1 at home). • United's record in 25 UEFA fixtures against French opposition is W13 D10 L2 (W3 D7 L2 in France). Form guide • Prior to losing the Old Trafford first leg, St-Étienne were undefeated in ten European matches this season (W5 D5). They are still unbeaten in ten European home games (W4 D6), though four of their five Stade Geoffroy Guichard fixtures this term have ended in draws, three of them goalless. • A 2-0 victory at Zorya on matchday six ended United's seven-match run without an away win in Europe (D1 L6). • European Cup runners-up in 1976, St-Étienne were eliminated in last season's UEFA Europa League round of 32 by Basel. Their best campaigns in this competition culminated in the quarter-finals in 1980 and 1981. • United got to the last 16 in 2015/16, but the UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League remains the only major UEFA trophy they have never won. Continental champions in 1968, 1999 and 2008, the Red Devils lifted the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1991. Links and trivia • The journey from Manchester to St-Etienne is around 1,000km. • United's Paul Pogba came up against his older brother, St-Étienne defender Florentin Pogba, in the 16 February first leg. • United's Ibrahimović enjoyed playing St-Étienne during his time in France; he scored 14 goals in 13 games against Les Verts in all competitions. • Before breaking through at Monaco, United's Anthony Martial signed his first professional contract with St-Étienne's main rivals, Lyon. His record in two matches against Les Verts with Monaco is D1 L1 – he struck in a 1-1 draw against St-Étienne in April 2015. • United reserve goalkeeper Sergio Romero turns 30 the day of the second leg, 24 hours after defender Phil Jones's 25th birthday. • United's Chris Smalling and Wayne Rooney played at St-Étienne's Stade Geoffroy Guichard in England's 0-0 draw with Slovakia at UEFA EURO 2016. Old Trafford team-mate Marcus Rashford was an unused substitute. The coaches • St-Étienne coach since 2009, Christophe Galtier steered Les Verts to French League Cup success in 2012/13. He had worked as assistant to Alain Perrin at St-Étienne prior to getting the top job. Originally a defender, he began his playing career at home-town club Marseille. • José Mourinho took over as United boss last summer. Having made his name winning the UEFA Cup and UEFA Champions League with Porto, he landed Europe's top club prize again with Internazionale Milano as well as three Premier League titles during two stints at Chelsea. • In Mourinho's last foray in this competition, he guided Porto to the 2003 UEFA Cup final, where they edged Celtic 3- 2 in Seville. Penalty shoot-outs • St-Étienne won their only previous UEFA penalty shoot-out: W 4-3 H v Kardemir Karabükspor (2014/15 UEFA Europa League play-offs) • United's record in three UEFA penalty shoot-outs is W1 L2: 2 AS Saint-Étienne - Manchester United FC Wednesday 22 February 2017 - 18.00CET (18.00 local time) Match press kit Stade Geoffroy Guichard, Saint-Etienne L 5-4 A v Videoton (1984/85 UEFA Cup quarter-finals) L 4-3 A v Torpedo Moskva (1992/93 UEFA Cup first round) W 6-5 N v Chelsea (2007/08 UEFA Champions League final) 3 AS Saint-Étienne - Manchester United FC Wednesday 22 February 2017 - 18.00CET (18.00 local time) Match press kit Stade Geoffroy Guichard, Saint-Etienne Legend Competitions Club competitions National team competitions UCL: UEFA Champions League EURO: UEFA European Football Championship ECCC: European Champion Clubs' Cup WC: FIFA World Cup UEL: UEFA Europa League CONFCUP: FIFA Confederations Cup UCUP: UEFA Cup FRIE: Friendly internationals UCWC: UEFA Cup Winners' Cup U21FRIE: Under-21 friendly internationals SCUP: UEFA Super Cup U21: UEFA European Under-21 Championship UIC: UEFA Intertoto Cup U17: UEFA Under-17 Championship ICF: Inter-Cities Fairs Cup U16: UEFA European Under-16 Championship U19: UEFA Under-19 Championship U18: UEFA European Under-18 Championship WWC: FIFA Women's World Cup WEURO: UEFA European Women's Championship Competition stages Other abbreviations F: Final GS: Group stage (aet): After extra time pens: Penalties GS1: First group stage GS2: Second group stage No.: Number og: Own goal 3QR: Third qualifying round R1: First round ag: Match decided on away P: Penalty R2: Second round R3: Third round goals agg: Aggregate R4: Fourth round PR: Preliminary round Pld: Matches played AP: Appearances SF: Semi-finals QF: Quarter-finals Pos.: Position Comp.: Competition R16: round of 16 QR: Qualifying round Pts: Points D: Drawn R32: Round of 32 1QR: First qualifying round R: Sent off (straight red card) DoB: Date of birth 1st: first leg 2QR: Second qualifying Res.: Result ET: Extra Time round sg: Match decided by silver GA: Goals against 2nd: second leg FT: Final tournament goal t: Match decided by toss of a PO: Play-off ELITE: Elite round coin Rep: Replay 3rdPO: Third-place play-off GF: Goals for W: Won PO - FT: Play-off for Final GS-FT: Group stage – final gg: Match decided by golden Y: Booked Tournament tournament goal L: Lost Y/R: Sent off (two yellow Nat.: Nationality cards) N/A: Not applicable f: Match forfeited Statistics -: Denotes player substituted +: Denotes player introduced *: Denotes player sent off +/-: Denotes player introduced and substituted Squad list D: Disciplinary *: Misses next match if booked S: Suspended QUAL: All UEFA qualifiers UEL: Current season total UEFA Europa League appearances from the group stage onwards prior to the current matchday UEL: Total appearances in the UEFA Europa League, group stage to final only UEFA: All-time total appearances in UEFA club competition including qualifying Disclaimer: Although UEFA has taken all reasonable care that the information contained within this document is accurate at the time of publication, no representation or guarantee (including liability towards third parties), expressed or implied, is made as to its accuracy, reliability or completeness. • BOUNDARY BULLETIN the Official Matchday Programme of Oldham Athletic Football Club Free to Download
BOUNDARY BULLETIN The official matchday programme of Oldham Athletic Football Club Free to Download Oldham Athletic vs. Bolton Wanderers Sky Bet League Two - Matchday 31 Tuesday 2nd March 2021 - 7pm KO HEAD COACH - HARRY KEWELL “Hi everyone and thanks once again for supporting us from home.” There’s always an extra sense of anticipation when a home fixture comes straight on the back of a good away win and that’s certainly been evident over the past few days in our preparation for this evening’s game. The result we picked up at Carlisle United on Saturday felt like more than just three points due to the manner in which it was achieved and the character shown by the players to come from behind in such dramatic circumstances. As a team, we have developed a habit this season of battling back in games, and for the second successive Saturday, I was incredibly proud of our determination to keep going against strong opposition and produce a hard-earned result. I have said throughout the season that we have a young squad full of potential and our ability to record a win at Carlisle, along with the draw at Tranmere Rovers the previous weekend, shows we are progressing in the right way. Of course, we were all disappointed with the home defeat against Barrow in the middle of those results, but to respond so quickly in a difficult fixture is testament to the players and their hunger to put things right. No-one typifies that mentality more than Carl Piergianni who, despite being limited in his game-time in recent weeks, came off the bench to register an outstanding second-half performance at Brunton Park before scoring the goal that made sure of the win.

  • Plymouth Argyle FC Charities Policy and Procedure
Plymouth Argyle FC Charities Policy and Procedure Overview: Plymouth Argyle Football Club (PAFC) treats all requests for charitable support with the utmost importance. PAFC and its associated partners receive multiple requests from charities, fundraisers, companies and organisations daily. Whilst these are supported, they come from different directions within the industry from board level to staff. PAFC, as a values-driven organisation, has long been associated with strong community links within the city of Plymouth and throughout Devon and Cornwall and have a strategy to become a sustainable championship football club. The club’s corporate social responsibility will be developed through charities. By contributing to supporting good causes providing resource and coverage will enable the club to contribute to societal needs on a seasonal basis. Through Argyle Community Trust (ACT), the club’s official charity partner, further work will be undertaken to support the club’s CSR. To provide the Trust with better coverage and demonstrate its charitable work the Trust will identify a societal need/inequality each year which they will focus on that links into their project, examples are shown as below: • Homelessness • Loneliness • Socially isolated and vulnerable adults • Food poverty • Health inequality • Migrant resettlement • Women in Sport • BAME representation in Sport This will be based on research and local insight on the need of the communities we serve.
