The Festival will screen 164 films representing 31 countries. Of the films selected, 151 have premiere status, including 23 world premieres. Full lineup listed below. Film descriptions, trailers, stills, and schedule available on our website here. “We are incredibly proud to have the opportunity to present these artists’ extraordinary work on both the big screen at Enzian and virtually as well,” commented Matthew Curtis, Florida Film Festival Programming Director. “The highest percentage of films ever (over 92%), will be making their Florida debut at the festival, and we could not be more thrilled about introducing these talented filmmakers and presenting such an entertaining and diverse group of films to our audience. This year’s lineup includes 90 women or non-binary filmmakers--the most in our 30-year history and 55% of our total programming--and their voices will be represented throughout every part of the festival. In addition, we have added a third live-action shorts program to the International Showcase for the first time ever, thereby giving our audience another terrific collection of films from abroad to experience. We are also excited that the virtual platform will allow almost all of these official selections to be available to festival-goers across the state of Florida.

It was filmed by transgressive artists Josep M. Jordana and (gun collector, criminologist) Marc Viaplana. For those of you blessed and cursed enough to catch Lydia's throttling spoken word performance at the EMP Sky Church a few years back, when she showed some vintage fucked up old footage of her early damage with Teenage Jesus and the Jerks as well, this would be a wonderful introduction to her psychosis-inducing anti-pop. Lunch has been using her dark sexuality and fierce intelligence to make confrontational art for over two decades, and once even spit on me at a performance in a Seattle club that no longer exists. She's covered most the realms of literature (novels, confessionals, plays) and art, and worked with members of Sonic Youth, The Birthday Party, Swans, and many other scary noisy types. (Yes, I deserved to be spat on — I didn't wash that cheek for weeks.) For the indie-pop fan, this collection of grunting, pounding horror rock by all-star underground anti-heroes like Nels Cline and others from bands such as Godflesh, Foetus, and Unsane, featuring Lunch singing and screeching and humiliating the audience over the top, might seem like a total nightmare.

On making the most of your time Spoken word artist, journalist, and musician Lydia Lunch on not wasting your talents or material, owning your output, and focusing on what obsesses you. Do you remember the first time that you wrote a poem? Or a song? I remember writing a poem about killing my parents and reading it to my mother. She was not very happy but she always encouraged me nonetheless. I was 12. When I first got to New York I thought I was going to do spoken word, but it didn’t really exist then. There was Patti Smith and rock and roll poetry. I would chase Lenny Kaye. He was the only one that wouldn’t run away from me and he would listen to my terrible poems. They weren’t very good then but he would listen and I thought that was very nice. I wrote about horrible violence, nothing has really changed. How do you write now? When I hit the first sentence, it comes out very quickly. So a long piece will probably be three sessions, but I don’t edit this stuff. I don’t strike until I’m ready to do it.

grey is the colour of hope is the fourth audio work compiled by Alan Dunn, artist and Senior Lecturer in Contemporary Art at Leeds Metropolitan University. Taking its cue from the manners in which the colour grey has been used in literature, art and design from the Old Testament to the present day, the CD brings together new audio works from students and staff in the School of Contemporary Art and Graphic Design alongside artists' compositions and archival material. The School comprises Contemporary Art Practice, Fine Art and Graphic Design. Permission has been secured and negotiated on each excerpt and the CD is produced in a limited edition of 1,000 and given away freely to students and interested parties. Support for the project has come from the Arts Council of England and Metropolitan University and design of the CD packaging is by John Barton and Sean Thomas, two Second Year Graphic Design students. Composed to echo JMW Turner's 1797 Moonlight, a Study at Millbank a grey landscape shot with one brilliant spash of joy the CD deploys a Leadbelly spoken word introduction from and a newly composed piece from Bill Drummond (Grey and me to bookend a lengthy grey sound collage (with one splash of colour) blending student works and content from Henry Miller, Gerhard Richter, Lydia Lunch, Rodney Marsh and William Shakespeare.
