Üldjuhul on hiis küla pühapaik, rahvapärimuse järgi olevat varem olnud igal külal oma hiis. Samas on mõnda hiiepaika kasutanud terve kihelkond. Artiklis on vaatluse all Virumaa pühapaigad ning ära on toodud Virumaal praeguseks teada olevate hiite nimekiri. Märksõnad: hiis, looduslik pühapaik, Virumaa Eestis on ajalooliste andmete põhjal teada ligikaudu 800 hiit, neist ligi kuuendik Virumaal. Hiis on hiis. Ajalooliste looduslike pühapaikade hulgas moodustavad hiied eraldi rühma. Samma küla Tamme- aluse hiide on rahvast mäletamistmööda kogunenud kogu Mahu (Viru-Nigula) kihelkonnast (Kaasik 2001; Maran 2013). Hiienimelised paigad on ajalooliselt levinud peamiselt põhja pool Tartu – Viljandi – Pärnu joont (Valk 2009: 50). Lõuna pool võidakse sarnaseid pühapai- kasid nimetada kergo-, kumarus-, pühä-, ahi- vm paigaks. Kuid ka Virumaal ei nimetata hiiesarnaseid paiku alati hiieks. Selline on näiteks Lavi pühapaik.

Volikogu esimees Kalmer MÄRTSON KUUSALU VALLA JÄÄTMEKAVA Töö nr 0411 Töö tellija: Kuusalu Vallavalitsus Töö teostaja: AS Tallmac Projektijuht: Ülle Ambos 1. Peamine tegevus, millele tuleb tähelepanu pöörata, on prügilasse ladestatavate jäätmete hulga vähendamine, mille eelduseks on jäätmete kohapealse sorteerimise arendamine ja taaskasutusse suunamine. Jäätmekava on koostatud Kuusalu Vallavalitsuse tellimusel AS-i Tallmac poolt vastavalt 01.04.2004 sõlmitud töövõtulepingule.

  • Veljo Tormis — Works
VELJO TORMIS — WORKS Tormis himself prepared two work lists: the first, in 1989, chronologically, by genre, is published with his Personaalnimestik; the second, in 2000, in chronological order from 1956 to 2000, is unpublished. It also lists a few youthful and student works of 1949 to 1955 and was prepared for Priit Kuusk’s book. Tormis excluded some works from these lists “because they are just arrangements of someone else’s song. They are not creative work.” But he was inconsistent in this policy. Those arrangements which he excluded I have placed at the end of the present works list, along with student and youthful works. Shortly before going to press Tormis gave me a hand-written list of 54 works dating from 1948 to 1951, which are included in the final sections of this list. The title of the work is given in Estonian in this list, except when a current publication gives another language first. The choice of which language to give as the main entry is complicated because Tormis generally used the Estonian title in his list of 1989, but occasionally used another language in his list of 2000. Multi-language titles are cross-referenced. The title is in italics if it is a multi-movement work. Other language title is in (). English trans. of title is in [ ]. If there is a number in parentheses immediately following the translation of the title it represents the position of that work in a multi-movement composition where the title follows. Lack of such information means it is a single, stand-alone work.

  • On Estonian Folk Culture: Pro Et Contra
doi:10.7592/FEJF2014.58.ounapuu ON ESTONIAN FOLK CULTURE: PRO ET CONTRA Piret Õunapuu Abstract: The year 2013 was designated the year of heritage in Estonia, with any kind of intangible and tangible heritage enjoying pride of place. Heritage was written and spoken about and revived in all kinds of ways and manners. The motto of the year was: There is no heritage without heir. Cultural heritage is a comprehensive concept. This article focuses, above all, on indigenous cultural heritage and, more precisely, its tangible (so-called object) part. Was the Estonian peasant, 120 years back, with his gradually increasing self-confidence, proud or ashamed of his archaic household items? Rustic folk culture was highly viable at that time. In many places people still wore folk costumes – if not daily, then at least the older generation used to wear them to church. A great part of Estonians still lived as if in a museum. Actually, this reminded of the old times that people tried to put behind them, and sons were sent to school in town for a better and more civilised future. In the context of this article, the most important agency is peasants’ attitude towards tangible heritage – folk culture in the widest sense of the word. The appendix, Pro et contra, at the end of the article exemplifies this on the basis of different sources. Keywords: creation of national identity, cultural heritage, Estonian National Museum, Estonian Students’ Society, folk costumes, folk culture, Learned Es- tonian Society, material heritage, modernisation, nationalism, social changes HISTORICAL BACKGROUND By the end of the 19th century, the Russification period, several cultural spaces had evolved in the Baltic countries: indigenous, German and Russian.

There are many churches and chapels that are of interest in the eastern part of Harju County, which all pilgrims should take a look at. The routes are recommended, and largely run away from major highways, allowing visitors the enjoyment of Harjumaa’s beautiful sights, all of its natural and cultural sights and its fishing villages and new settlements, life on mainland and life on small islands. The choice of transport is up to the pilgrim. You can travel on foot or by bicycle. There are places that you can reach by train. The most convenient option is to travel by car, but the areas around the capital have a good network of cycle and pedestrian tracks which is excellent for travelling by bicycle. PILGRIMAGE ROUTES IN EAST HARJUMAA ROUTE Tallinn-Viru Square - Viimsi Peninsula - Maardu - Jõelähtme Municipality - Kuusalu Town - Leesi & Juminda Peninsula - Loksa City - Viinistu Village - Raasiku Town - Pikva Village - Kose Town - Jüri Town - Kostivere - Tallinn Tallinn The pilgrimage to Harjumaa starts in Tallinn, and first of all we recommend heading towards Viimsi Peninsula. You can take bus No. 1 from the bus terminal in Viru Keskus in the heart of Tallinn or go by bicycle, on foot, or by car. When you start your journey, you will first have to use Pirita Road to reach the small town of Haabneeme, and thereafter you travel towards Püünsi. If you travel by bicycle, you can use the bicycle and pedestrian track. The entire Viimsi Peninsula is covered with bicycle and pedestrian tracks and the peninsula is very safe to travel around.
