BUD SPENCER ÉS TERENCE HILL FILMJEINEK SIKERE MARKETINGES SZEMMEL PAPP-VÁRY ÁRPÁD FERENC PHD Bud Spencer és Terence Hill a filmtörténelem egyik, ha nem a legismertebb párosa. Bár fő mozis sikereik a hetvenes években és a nyolcvanas évek első felében születtek, filmjeik sokadik ismétlése mind mai a napig százezreket ültet a képernyő elé. Legalábbis Olaszországban, Németországban és természetesen Magyarországon, mert ezekben az országokban a legnépszerűbbek. Az általuk írt, illetve róluk szólt könyvek is itt fogynak a legjobban. Életműveikről az elmúlt években több kötet is megjelent, úgy is, mint Bud Spencer két saját könyve a „Különben dühbe jövök – Önéletrajz” (2010), a „Nyolcvan év alatt a Föld körül” (2014), az Ulf Lüdeke által írt könyv a páros másik tagjáról („Terence Hill – Exkluzív életrajz”, 2013), vagy éppen a páros teljes filmográfiáját összefoglaló Tobias Hohman gyűjtemény („Bud Spencer és Terence Hill krónikák”, 2014). Ugyan a filmszakmában némileg sznob módon sokan csak legyintenek a párosra és alkotásaikra, valójában a maguk módján rendkívül egyedi, amit alkottak, marketing szakszóval azt mondhatjuk, megvolt a USP-jük (unique selling proposition). Jelen cikk marketinges szemmel vizsgálja sikerük titkát, valamint érinti azt is, hogy milyen marketingesek voltak ők maguk, illetve hogyan marketingelnek mind a mai napig velük. Bevezetés 1999-ben a Time magazin Roberto Benigni „Az élet szép” című filmjének hatalmas sikere után az alkotásról szóló cikk mellett lehozta a „leghíresebb olasz színészek listáját”. És hogy kik álltak az első két helyen? Bud Spencer és Terence Hill. Bizony, bár rengeteg nagy formátumú olasz színészt ismerünk, mint a hölgyek közül Claudia Cardinale, Gina Lollobrigida, Sophia Loren vagy Monica Bellucci, a férfiak közül pedig Marcello Mastroianni vagy Franco Nero, a lista első két helyét nem más, mint Bud Spencer és Terence Hill foglalta el. -

I GOT MINE! – David Bowie em um western italiano fora do tempo e do espaço Tiago José Lemos Monteiro1 Tão diversa em termos de estilo quanto a discografia de David Bowie são as incursões do Camaleão pelo universo audiovisual. Passada a ressaca do sucesso estrondoso de Let's Dance (1983), e um pouco ecoando o caráter mezzo experimental, mezzo hermético, mezzo híbrido (pois apenas David Bowie autoriza subversões da lógica como esta das três metades) dos 1 Doutor em Comunicação pela Universidade Federal Fluminense, Mestre em Comunicação e Cultura pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2006). [email protected] álbuns que lançou nos anos de 1990, também os títulos que o cantor estrelou neste decênio aprofundam o caráter sui generis que atravessa obras como 1.Outside (1995) ou Earthling (1997). Nenhum filme sumariza melhor a esquizofrenia criativa do cantor e compositor inglês nos estertores do século passado do que Il mio west (Giovanni Veronesi, 1998), que já possuiria razões suficientes para ser considerado um tremendo alienígena audiovisual, mesmo sem a presença de David Bowie como um sádico vilão steampunk. Para melhor acessarmos o ponto fora da curva que Il mio West representa para o cinema italiano de gênero quanto para a filmografia de David Bowie, é preciso fazer uma breve digressão sobre os caminhos da indústria audiovisual na Itália durante a segunda metade do século XX. Mais ou menos à mesma época em que a narrativa clássica se consolidava nos Estados Unidos e o sistema de estúdios dava seus primeiros passos, a Itália já possuía tradição na produção de filmes caros e grandiosos, sobretudo nas modalidades do épico de verniz histórico, como Gli ultimi giorni di Pompei (Mario Caserini, 1913) e Cabiria (Giovanni Pastrone, 1914). -

The puff of WESTERNS smoke was sudden and hand-colored, and it looked real. Today we can look back at that primitive movie and see all the elements of what would evolve HISTORICAL into the Western genre. Perhaps the Western’s early origins—The Great Train DICTIONARY OF Robbery was the first narrative, commercial movie—or its formulaic yet enter- WESTERNS in Cinema taining structure has made the genre so popular. And with the recent success of films like 3:10 to Yuma and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, the Western appears to be in no danger of disappearing. The story of the Western is told in this Historical Dictionary of Westerns in Cinema through a chronology, a bibliography, an introductory essay, and hundreds of cross-referenced dictionary entries on cinematographers; com- posers; producers; films like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Dances with Wolves, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, High Noon, The Magnificent Seven, The Searchers, Tombstone, and Unforgiven; actors such as Gene Autry, in Cinema Cinema Kirk Douglas, Clint Eastwood, Henry Fonda, Jimmy Stewart, and John Wayne; and directors like John Ford and Sergio Leone. Issue #70 Featuring: TURN I’ll KILL YOU, THE FAR SIDE OF JERICHO, Spaghetti Western Poster Art, Spaghetti Western Film Locations in the U.S.A., Tim Lucas interview, DVD reviews WAI! #70 The Swingin’ Doors Welcome to another on-line edition of Westerns…All’Italiana! kicking off 2008. Several things are happening for the fanzine. We have found a host or I should say two hosts for the zine. Jamie Edwards and his Drive-In Connection are hosting the zine for most of our U.S. readers (www.thedriveinconnection.com) and Sebastian Haselbeck is hosting it at his Spaghetti Westerns Database for the European readers (www.spaghetti- western.net). Our own Kim August is working on a new website (here’s her current blog site http://gunsmudblood.blogspot.com/ ) that will archive all editions of the zine starting with issue #1. This of course will take quite a while to complete with Kim still in college. Thankfully she’s very young as she’ll be working on this project until her retirement 60 years from now. Anyway you can visit these sites and read or download your copy of the fanzine whenever you feel the urge. Several new DVD and CD releases have been issued since the last edition of WAI! and co-editor Lee Broughton has covered the DVDs as always. The CDs will be featured on the last page of each issue so you will be made aware of what is available. We have completed several interviews of interest in recent months. One with author Tim Lucas, who has just recently released his huge volume on Mario Bava, appears in this issue. -

Zu Besuch bei Maestro Morricone in der "ewigen Stadt" Von Marc Hairapetian Ennio Morricone & THE SPIRIT aka Marc Hairapetian (Foto: Vo Nguyen Kieu Oanh für SPIRIT - EIN LÄCHELN IM STURM) In Rom kommt in der allgemeinen Gunst zuerst der Papst Franziskus, gleich danach aber Ennio Morricone. Ehrfürchtig fragt einen der Hotelier: "Erwartet Sie wirklich morgen der Maestro bei sich zu Hause?" Klassiker des Italowesterns wie "Zwei glorreiche Halunken" (1966), "Spiel mir das Lied vom Tod" (1968) oder "Leichen pflastern seinen Weg" (ebenfalls 1968) sind untrennbar mit seinen innovativ-coolen Kompositionen verbunden. Dabei machen die Soundtracks für dieses Genre nur einen Bruchteil seines gewaltigen Gesamtwerks aus, das auch nicht-filmmusikalische, avantgardistische Aufnahmen des Anton-Webern-Verehrers beinhaltet. Der am 10. November 1928 im römischen Stadtteil Trastevere geborene ehemalige Trompeter hat für annähernd alle bedeutenden Regisseure der letzten sechs Jahrzehnte Scores geschrieben und sogar Popbands wie auch Vertreter der Clubszene mit seinen unorthodoxen, mitunter durchaus tanzbaren Klängen inspiriert. Nur selten gibt er Interviews und erst recht nicht in seinem Anwesen im Herzen der "ewigen Stadt", das in seiner Pracht fast einem Palazzo gleicht und neben Morricone und seiner Frau von uniformierten Bediensteten bevölkert wird. By theme, i mean recurring motive associated with a particular person, place, or idea, in Opera this is called Leitmotif, literally meaning leading motif. In this thesis, I am in search, of the theme violence, change, and survival, which are archetypal themes in the genre comedy.
