This year’s Guide will be available in August 2021 for the In Person NPW events in October. In the meantime - # 1 Book / Reserve a hotel room now (or as soon as possible); # 2 Watch for deals, then book your flight into Reagan National (DCA). HOTELS SURVIVORS Survivors of Fallen Officers (calendar years 2019 & 2020) receive free transportation to and from Reagan National (DCA), and participate in programs / events coordinated by Concerns Of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.). To accomplish this, Survivors stay at the “C.O.P.S. Hotel” – Hilton Alexandria Mark Center. Survivors should coordinate attendance at NPW with their Fallen Officer’s agency to register with C.O.P.S. at this link – https://www.concernsofpolicesurvivors.org/national-police-weekend By registering at the above link, hotel rooms will be reserved for Survivors. HOTELS LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS and EXTENDED FAMILY / FRIENDS You should make a hotel reservation BEFORE June 11th (see information following FLIGHTS). FLIGHTS Survivors, attending NPW, fly into Reagan National (DCA). This allows Honor Guard Teams to greet them as they deplane, and then escort them to baggage claim and ground transportation. Uniformed motor officers, from around the nation, then escort their (Survivor’s) van to the C.O.P.S. Hotel. Law Enforcement Officers are encouraged to fly into Reagan National (DCA) as well. Both the Blue and Yellow Metro Rail lines have a Metro Station at the airport (allowing you to take the Metro to a station near your hotel). Otherwise you can use a taxi, Uber, Lyft,… Flying into Dulles (IAD) or Baltimore/Washington International (BWI) are about 45 minute and 60 minute drives into Washington, DC. Arrive October 12th to attend the Annual Colorado Survivor & Peace Officer Reception / Social Hour. Please provide Danny with your outbound flight itinerary (departure date & time from DIA, Airline / Flight #). This information is shared with Denver Police Officer Henry Jones (Community Resource Officer at DIA) so DIA can insure adequate staffing for the anticipated amount of LEOs declaring firearms in their checked bag. [email protected] HOTELS FOR POLICE WEEK www.PoliceWeek.Org has information regarding available hotel rooms blocked out for National Police Week (NPW). The link is - https://book.passkey.com/gt/218148231?gtid=17c0b08b127ea8b6ef8b48f97392f752 Rooms are blocked out for October 12th to October 16th. If you plan on arriving during the weekend before, you will have to make a separate reservation with the hotel via the hotel’s website. These hotels show their approximate distance to the National Law Enforcement Memorial. There are only so many rooms blocked out, so if you want to use this link – do it sooner than later. From Danny’s 15 years attending National Police Week, he recommends booking hotels based on their location to a Metro Station. Upon arriving at Reagan National (DCA), you can take the Metro to the station that is within walking distance of your hotel. Booking a room at a hotel within walking distance of a Metro Station can eliminate any need to use a taxi, Uber, Lyft,… during NPW. The Metro is easy to use. In addition to a Metro Rail Station at Reagan National Airport, there are Metro Stations within walking distance of every scheduled NPW event. For instance, our National Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial (NLEOM) has a Metro Station (Judiciary Square) beneath it, and is within a short walk of the Gallery Place - Chinatown and Archives Metro Stations. One lean year Danny found a cheap hotel (Days Inn by Wyndham Washington DC/Connecticut Avenue, 4400 Connecticut Ave NW) that was less than a block from the Van Ness – UDC Station. This station is just 7 stops to the Metro Center Station, 8 stops Gallery Place, and 9 stops to our Memorial. As of today, rooms are around $100 a night during the second week of October – an unheard of price for a Washington, DC Hotel. As you get closer to the Downtown and Penn Quarter / Chinatown Neighborhoods, near our Memorial and where NPW events take place, the hotel prices increase. As you look at a Google Map online, a Metro Station is designated with a blue square with a white “M.” Look for hotels that are within walking distance of a Metro Station. This link should provide an example of hotels in relationship to Metro Stations as an example – https://www.google.com/maps/search/hotels/@38.8927765,- 77.0215792,14z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!2m4!5m3!5m2!4m1!1i2 On the following pages are a list of hotels. Agencies, providing funding for its members, have stayed at the Washington Marriott at Metro Center, 775 12th St NW. This hotel allows you to walk to every NPW event (and it sits atop the Metro Center Metro Station if you want to go anywhere else). This hotel can be expensive for an individual officer however. An example of one of many alternatives, the Navy Yard – Ballpark neighborhood is clean, fun, and safe. It features new buildings, restaurants, bars, hotels,… AND the Navy Yard - Ballpark Metro Station is just 4 stops from Gallery Place – Chinatown. Finally, you can go to this link, https://www.wmata.com/schedules/maps/ and click the “Rail” tab. This map will allow you to zoom in and identify Metro Stations / Lines in relationship to the neighborhoods. Don’t let the large number of hotels fool you; this will be a busy week in Washington, DC so book soon.
