A taxicab ride from Reagan National costs approximately $15-$20 one way. Take the George Washington Parkway North. Follow signs for Key Bridge/Route 50. Follow until Key Bridge exit. You will want to be in the left lane as you cross over Key Bridge. At the end of Key Bridge take a left at the light. This is Canal Road. Enter campus at the Hoya Saxa sign, to the right. This road will take you to main campus parking. See attached campus map for further directions. From Washington/Dulles Airport (40 minutes) Taxicabs from Dulles International cost approximately $50-$55 one way. Follow Dulles airport Access road to I-66. Follow I-66 to the Key Bridge Exit. Exit and stay in left lane. At the third light take a left and stay in one of the middle lanes. You will want to be in the left lane as you cross over Key Bridge. Many of these agencies also have a downtown DC office but it usually costs a bit more than renting at the airport and is not as convenient to collect and return. Again, we strongly recommend that you do not rent a car since parking at the University is very limited and costly. Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle: Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle (GUTS) operates five shuttle routes, connecting the campus to the Georgetown University Law Center on Capitol Hill; to University offices on Wisconsin Avenue; to Metro stations at Rosslyn (Virginia) and Dupont Circle (District of Columbia); and to stops in North Arlington, Virginia. GUTS buses depart and arrive at the Leavey Center, (Georgetown University Hotel & Conference Center) in the heart of Georgetown University’s campus. Buses operate between 5:00 a.m. and 12:00 midnight. Metrobus is $1.35 each time you get on. You need to have exact change, the bus driver cannot give change back. You pay on the bus at the meter next to the bus driver. The G-2 bus runs from Dupont Circle, where there is a Metro Station, directly to the main gates of Campus at 37th and O Streets, NW. Metro rail (subway): Washington, DC’s Metro is a clean, convenient subway system. The WMATA or Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s telephone is (202) 637-7000 or (202) 638-3780 TTY. The Metro trains generally run weekdays 5:30am - midnight. On Friday and Saturday, trains run until 2:00am. During the weekday rush hours (5:30am-9:30am and 3:00-8:00pm trains come along every six minutes. At other times and on weekends and holidays, trains run about every 12-15 minutes. The base fare is $1.35; the actual price you pay depends on the time of day and the distance traveled. Children under age five ride free when accompanied by a paying passenger, and there is a maximum of two children per paying adult. Buy your ticket at the Farecard machines; they accept coins and crisp $1, $5, $10 or $20 bills, your change will be in coins. The Farecard should be inserted into the turnstile to enter the platform. Make sure to keep the card - you’ll need it to exit at your destination. 2 The three closest stops to Georgetown are all a half-hour walk or a short taxi ride away: the Rosslyn Metro stop is directly across the Key Bridge in Rosslyn, Virginia; the Foggy Bottom Metro stop is near Washington Circle (Pennsylvania and 23rd); and Dupont Circle Metro stop (on Dupont Circle which crosses Massachusetts Avenue, New Hampshire Avenue and Connecticut Avenue). Taxis: Cabs can be hailed on most major city streets. Fares are based on the number of zones crossed, so be sure to ask what the fare will be before getting into the cab. ATMs Most ATMs in the Washington, DC area are linked to national networks that let you withdraw money from your checking account or take a cash advance from your credit card account for an additional fee. ATMs can be found at most banks, in many grocery stores, and in major tourist attractions. There is an ATM machine in the Student Lounge, 2nd floor of the Car Barn. For more information on ATM locations that can be accessed with your particular account, call the phone number found on the back of your ATM or debit card. (All of the ATMs accept VISA or MasterCard (MC) cards, as do most shops and restaurants.)
