The J “TDN Rising Star” J, who is unbeaten in four starts culminating in last Tuesday’s six-furlong juvenile highlight of the Royal meeting, will remain in training at Coolcullen for this year and will race in Godolphin’s colors ‘SEA’ GETS GREEN LIGHT FOR DERBY CLASH before a decision about his J “TDN Rising Star” J Born To Sea (Ire) 3-year-old career is made later in 2012. Simon Crisford, (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) has been confirmed an intended Dawn Approach runner in Saturday’s G1 Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at Godolphin’s racing manager, Racing Post photo The Curragh, which will be the first time that commented, “We are delighted Christopher Tsui’s homebred has tackled a distance Dawn Approach will race for Godolphin and look beyond a mile. Trainer John Oxx explained that the forward to seeing him run at the highest level 3/4-brother to Sea the Stars (Ire) (Cape Cross {Ire}) was throughout his career. It is fantastic how well New “thriving” after finishing fourth in Approach has started his stallion career and Dawn last Tuesday’s G1 St. James’s Approach appears to have inherited many of his Palace S. at Royal Ascot. Johnny qualities.” After the Coventry, Bolger highlighted the Murtagh will partner the Sept. 15 G1 Goffs Vincent O’Brien S. at The Curragh as sophomore. “I’ll talk to the owners the next target for the chestnut, who also annexed the and make a final decision, but I Listed Rochestown S. at Naas June 4. expect he will run,” the conditioner told PA Sport. “He’s going from TDN TODAY strength to strength. All the rain is Headline News.. 6 pages a bit of a worry. I’d like to see him Born To Sea on a bit of fast ground, but he’s Racing Post photo got his brother’s constitution. He takes everything in and doesn’t worry. He’s thriving from race to race and putting on weight. This horse is quite settled now in his races, and I think he can take another race. The opportunity is there to try him at a longer trip. He’ll definitely like a mile and a quarter, but going straight from a mile to a mile and a half in one swoop is a bit risky. In the circumstances, we have to take a chance.” Oxx will also be represented by Jaber Abdullah’s Akeed Mofeed (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), but will withdraw Neil Jones’s Call To Battle (Ire) (King’s Best) after that colt suffered a setback. “Call To Battle has a foot abscess,” Oxx added. “It’s quite nasty and rules him out at the weekend.” Akeed Mofeed, who has not been seen since finishing runner-up in the G2 Beresford S. at The Curragh in September, will be partnered by Niall McCullagh in the 12-furlong Classic. “I ride Akeed Mofeed regularly at Mr. Oxx’s yard, so I am well acquainted with the horse,” McCullagh told PA Sport. “Hopefully, it will work out. He’s a nice horse and he’s back going quite well now.” In This Issue Bated Breath Eyes July Cup 60 Broad St., Suite 100 Red Bank, NJ 07701 (732) 747-8060 (732) 747-8955 (fax) Bated Breath (GB) (Dansili {GB}), narrowly www.thoroughbreddailynews.com beaten by Dream Ahead (GB) (Diktat {GB}) in www.thetdn.com last year’s G1 July Cup, will look to improve a spot in this year’s renewal of the race July 14 at Barry Weisbord, co-publisher Newmarket. Beaten only by Dream Ahead (Diktat {GB}) in the six-furlong contest in 2011, the G2 Temple S. winner was finishing runner-up for the fourth time at the top level in last Tuesday=s G1 King=s Stand S. His conditioner said, AWe are looking at the July Cup with Bated Breath. He has come out of his race at Royal Ascot in good form. He is a very consistent horse and ran right up to his best in the King=s Stand on ground that wasn=t ideal. He has run over five furlongs this year, but I think the step up to six furlongs will suit him. We are also looking at the July Cup with Genki (Ire) (Shinko Forest {Ire}), who ran well in the race last year.@ The Charlton-trained duo were among the 28 remaining entries following the latest forfeit stage, and another likely to take his chance is Fawzi Nass=s Krypton Factor (GB) (Kyllachy {GB}). He was sixth behind Black Caviar (Aus) (Bel Esprit {Aus}) in Saturday=s G1 Diamond Jubilee S. and the owner, and trainer=s Racing Manager Oliver St Lawrence commented, AKrypton Factor is an intended runner in the July Cup. He is fine after his race at Royal Ascot, but he would have preferred firmer ground. He ran a creditable race--he was beaten just over two lengths--and was in the middle of the course where we think the ground was a bit softer. On grass, he wants the ground firmer than it was at Ascot. The uphill finish at Newmarket will suit him, too, but the ground is the main thing with him.@ Aidan O=Brien has mile Group 1 winners Excelebration (Ire) (Exceed and Excel {Aus}) and Power (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}) in the mix, while George Strawbridge=s Moonlight Cloud (GB) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) and Godolphin=s Sepoy (Aus) (Elusive Quality) are other intriguing contenders.
