GOVERNMENT OF INDIA PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO:3267 ANSWERED ON:19.08.2004 OIL WELLS IN BARMER Bhagora Shri Mahavir;Meghwal Shri Kailash Will the Minister of PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS be pleased to state: (a) whether huge reserve of oil / petroleum has been found in Barmer and Jaisalmer region of Rajasthan; (b) if so, the area-wise and quantity-wise details thereof; (c) the share of Central Government and the State Government in this reserve; (d) whether ONGC is conducting survey to bore more wells; and (e) if so, the details thereof location-wise? Answer MINISTER OF PETROLEUM & NATURAL GAS AND PANCHAYATI RAJ (SHRI MANI SHANKAR AIYAR) (a) & (b): Yes, Sir. M/s Cairn Energy India Pty. Ltd., the operator of block RJ-ON-90/1, has made 9 oil discoveries, of which 8 are in the Barmer District and 1 in the Jalore District of Rajasthan. The operator has declared 4 oil discoveries in Barmer and 1 oil discovery in Jalore District as commercial discoveries. The in-place reserves estimated by the operator in respect of 5 oil discoveries namely Saraswati, Rageshwari, NA-1, Mangla and GR-F are 44.88 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT) and remaining 4 discoveries are under appraisal. Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) and Oil India Ltd. (OIL) also, have 12.55 Billion Cubic Meters (BCM) of in-place gas reserves in Jaisalmer region of Rajasthan. (c): After development and commencement of oil production from commercial oil discoveries in the block, the State Government would receive royalty on the crude oil production, whereas the Central Government would receive cess on the crude oil production and part of the profit petroleum after recovery of contract costs by the contractor as per the Production Sharing Contract. (d) & (e): ONGC is carrying out 3D seismic survey in the South Kharatar area of Jaisalmer District for further delineation of the gas find made in Chinnewala Tibba during 2002-03. .

District Survey report of Jalore District 1.0 Introduction The district derives its name from the town of Jalore, which is the headquarters of the district administration. District is located between latitudes 24º 37’ 00” to 25º 49’ 00” and longitudes 71º 11’00” to 73º 05’00” with an area of 10,640 Sq. kms (3.11% of the State). The district is part of Jodhpur Division. Administrative divisions of Jalore district are depicted in the index map (Fig. 1). 2.0 Rainfall & Climate Average annual rainfall (1971-2012) of the district is 445.4 mm. However normal rainfall for the period 1901 to 1970 is 400.6 mm. The annual rainfall gradually decreases from southeastern part to northwestern part. Climate of the district is dry except during SW monsoon season. The cold season is from December to February and is followed by summer from March to June. Period from mid of September to end of November constitutes post monsoon season. The district experiences either mild or normal drought once in two years. Severe type of drought has been recorded at Ahore block. Most severe type of drought has been recorded at Bhinmal, Sanchore & Jaswantpura blocks.

There has been limited scientific information available on the distribution of small canids like Desert Fox (Vulpes vulpes pusilla). A long- term survey and study was conducted in Thar Desert of Rajasthan (India) to know its present distribution. Visual encounter, den sightings, road accidents and secondary source of information from literature as well as through personal interactions with locals, forest officials and scientific community, distribution map has been prepared. The results based upon direct sightings, dens, secondary information and road kills revealed that desert fox was present mostly in western Rajasthan, whereas small population also found outside desert region. IndexTerms – Desert Fox, distribution, Thar desert, Rajasthan, transects. I. INTRODUCTION The Red foxes (Vulpes vulpes) are one of the most widely distributed carnivore in the world that makes their status as Least Concern (IUCN Red Data List) (Sharma and Sharma, 2013). However, Desert fox Vulpes vulpes pusilla (Order Carnivora, Family Canidae), also known as White-footed fox, is a sub-species of the red fox whose large population is largely restricted to Thar Desert landscape of India, Pakistan and Iran (Figure 1). In India, this animal is reported from various pockets of Western Rajasthan (Rajasthan) and Little Rann of Kutchchh (Gujarat) (Dookia and Wilson, 2016).

PREFACE AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS Regional economic inequalities are generally an outcome of uneven distribution of physical and natural resources. Sometimes disparities in the levels of performance also emanate from lack of technical know-how, low level of human development, social inhibitions and virtual absence of initiatives on the part of those who govern the destiny of people. A good number of studies have been undertaken in India and outside which focus on the existing state of inequalities. While some studies attempt to measure inequalities among different countries, others analyse inter-regional or inter-state inequalities. Generally, these studies are based on secondary data, and tend to measure the existing level of inequalities. But very few researchers have enquired into the factors responsible for such disparities. Rajasthan is a developing state of the Indian sub continent, where Mother Nature has not been kind enough to provide a rich endowment of physical and natural resources. Notwithstanding a peaceful political environment and a rich heritage of Marwari entrepreneurship, the State has not registered a very high level of growth in agriculture and industries. Infrastructure development and conservation of scarce water resources have generally received a low priority in the process of planned development. The present study selected 97 indicators pertaining to 12 sectors. A simple weighted average of scores was used to rank 32 districts of the State according to the nature of their relationship with development. Such ranking was done first for each sector, and then a composite rank for all the indicators was assigned to each district. One novel experiment undertaken in this study was to rank the districts on the basis of allocation of plan outlays over the period 1993-2001.

Results indicated high variability/fluctuation in yield to be the major cause of production instability in all the kharif crops and some rabi crops viz. wheat and mustard. On the contrary, high instability in area was the major source of production instability for crops viz. taramira, gram, barley, cumin and coriander. Performance of kharif crops were poor in general, as the production and productivity of crops were observed to be declining. Therefore, location specific technology development is needed in order to give higher yield even in adverse weather condition, along with price support, which would eventually expand the production.

CUSTOMS COMMISSIONERATE : JODHPUR 1 JURISDICTION : The Jurisdiction of Customs (Preventive) Commissionerate, Jodhpur (HQRS. At Jaipur) extends to the entire state of Rajasthan having a geographical area of 3.52 Lacs Sq. Kms including a 1037 Kms. Long internatinal border with Pakistan which extends from Hindumal Kot in Sri Ganganagar District to Brahamano Ki Dhani (Barmer) near Tehsil Sanchore in Jalore District adjoining Gujrat border. Prior to 1989, only two mixed Divisions (Customs-Cum- Central Excise) at Sriganganagar and Jodhpur with six Preventive Post at Anupgarh, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Chohtan and Phalodi were entrusted the job of curbing smuggling activities on this border. Subsequently, due to alarming rise in the incidence of smuggling and narcotic drugs trafficking, Customs formations in this border were strengthened in the year 1989, and with effect from 30.01.1989 and office of the Additional Commissioner of Customs at Jodhpur and five Customs Divisions one each at Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Sriganganagar,Barmer with 21Customs Range started functioning with a view to curb smuggling activities and drug trafficking on this border. Thereafter, taking into consideration the field experience gained, the Districts of Ajmer, Udaipur and Nagaur were also annexed to the jurisdiction of these formations and a new Customs Range was created at Udaipur with effect from 10.10.1992. 5 Ranges situated at all divisional headquarters were diverted from time to time considering the opening of Chief Commissioner's Office & Commissioner (Appeals) office at Jaipur 2(i) REVENUE REALIZED (RS. Girls College, Bikaner, Rajasthan, India Abstract-The Present paper deals with the flora of seed bearing plants of Ajmer district which is purely based on floristic exploration during the period of 2013-2015. A total number of 350 species belonging to 220 genera and 70 families are included in present paper, in which 1 from Gymnosperm and remaining 349 belongs to Angiosperm. Predominant families in this flora are Poaceae (34 species), Fabaceae (28 species), Asteraceae (23 Species), Euphorbiaceae (21 species), Caesalpiniaceae (17 species), Mimosaceae (14), Malvaceae (11 species), Convolvulaceae (11 species), Tiliaceae (11 species). Keyword: Spermatophytic Flora, Ajmer, Rajasthan. I. Introduction Proposed study area, Ajmer district is situated in the center of Rajasthan at latitude 26º27 N and longitude 74º44 E. This district is bounded by Pali district to the West, Bhilwara district to the South, Jaipur and Tonk districts to the East and Nagaur district to the North. It covers an area of 8481 km2. The climate along with the Ajmer district is subtropical. The climatic conditions are characterized by three season i.e. winter (November-February), summer (March-June) and Mansoon (July-October). II. Climatic factor Temperature- Hottest month of year − May (Minimum 26˚C, Maximum. 42˚C) Coldest month of year − January (Minimum 8˚C, Maximum 20˚C) Rainfall- Most of the rainfall occurs in the mansoon period from July-September.
