1) Introduction. What is streaming? Streaming is a way of receiving movies and other content from the world wide web. The content can be viewed on a TV, computer, tablet, or smart phone at a time and place of your choosing.

2) What do you need to do it? a. A plain computer with a high speed connection or b. A Smart TV that has built in internet access or

c. a TV with at least one HDMI input slot. HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface and it refers to how all kinds of wonderful content gets from the world wide web to our TV or other digital device. An HDMI slot looks like this:

d. a streaming device you can buy at Amazon, BestBuy or similar places, such as: i. or ii. Firestick (can get one that has Alexa and talk into it) or iii. Apple TV or iv. Google Chrome device or v. A computer with an HDMI cable connected to a TV’s HDMI input port

3) How do you do it? a. With a smart TV. Call Anthony or Shawn if you need help. b. With a separate device: i. Plug the device into your TV with an HDMI connector or cable ii. Follow the directions that come with the device to connect it to your Router and set it up, or iii. Call Anthony to help you install it

4) Examples of content and what requires payment or membership? a. Free: i. YouTube (with ads) ii. Pluto TV: ad-supported streaming service with more than 200 live and original channels iii. TV: TV shows and movies from Paramount, Lionsgate, MGM… iv. Watch v. NBC News vi. CBSN vii. CBSSPORTS viii. CHEDDAR: CNBC for millennials ix. : Shows and movies from Sony. x. : Documentaries, classic and Indie films available through libraries. xi. Laugh Out Loud: Comedy streaming service b. Subscription: i. ii. iii. iv. Disney Plus v. Apple TV Plus vi. HBO MAX vii. Peacock viii. PBS (obtained through Passport with a $60 or more annual contribution to local PBS) 5) How do you navigate the screen and get to the streaming source? Type in the title of the content you want.
