Anyone holidaying in Piedmont will be spoilt for choice with culinary treats. Regional spe- cialities include white truffles and famous wines like Barolo, Barbaresco and Barbera d’Asti that is grown in Isola d’Asti and is truly delicious. There are extensive rice fields in the Po valley. About a third of Europe’s rice produc- tion comes from this region.

Numerous excursions can be made from Isola d’Asti. There are all kinds of things to do in the surrounding area: culture vultures will enjoy the historic little towns first established by the Ro- mans, now attractive places to wander around or visit a market. Active visitors and nature- lovers can explore this pretty region by walking, hiking or touring by bike. Autumn is an exciting time for truffle hunting, while wine-lovers can taste fine wines in one of the numerous wineries.
