7 Reserve Merlot ���7 Reserve Merlot The 2017 Reserve Merlot was crafted from five small vineyard parcels inside the Columbia Valley AVA, three vineyards on Red Mountain and two along the Royal Slope. Farmed using sustain- able practices, the vines were limited to one-two clusters per shoot to create maximum concentration in each cluster. They were hand-harvested in the early mornings between September 8th - October 4th, 2017. Upon arriving in the winery, each cluster was hand-sorted, berry-sorted, and fermented in a combination of concrete (73%) and stainless steel (27%) tanks. Using only the free-run wine, it was then moved to custom French oak barrels (94% new) for 23 months of cellaring with over 40 individual evaluations by our winemaking team. After this time, only 17 barrels were selected and bottled (unfined and unfiltered), producing 412 cases. “Deep ruby/purple-colored, with medium to full-bodied notes of spring flowers, raspberries, candied orange, and spice, it’s elegant, balanced, and has a light, juicy, already delicious style. The primary vintages were sourced wines from the Columbia Valley AVA. Hedges Cellars, as it was called, created the first commerical wine blend for sale from WA State. After three years, Tom (born in Richland, WA) and Anne-Marie Hedges (born in Champagne, France), moved from a sourced fruit model to an Estate Grown model, by purchasing land in WA States’ most coveted terroir: The Red Mountain AVA. Soon after, Hedges Cellars became Hedges Family Estate, when their son Christophe joined in 2001. Shortly after, their daughter Sarah joined in 2006 and became head winemaker in 2015. The fruit is highly sought after by Washington winemakers for its strong varietal typicity and opaque coloration. WINE PROFILE Malbec has recently been “discovered” by the new world wine-drinking public as a superb stand-alone cultivar for fruit-forward, dark, approachable wines with lots of depth. This certainly holds true on Red Mountain, where plantings are relatively young but already exhibiting a lot of character. While visiting Bordeaux, CC and I made a joke of getting our photo in front of the imposing gates of this great French Chateaux knowing they are not open to the public and their wine is sold mostly to collectors. We wanted to make our own premium Bordeaux blend that we could welcome our guests to enjoy at an accessible price. To create this wine, we sourced from some of the best growers and regions in Washington State, including sites in Red Mountain and Horse Heaven Hills. In 2016, both areas experienced a long, spectacular growing season allowing the grapes to develop ripe flavors and expressive aromatics. Aged in 100% new French oak to frame its age-worthy tannins, the resulting wine is dark, aromatic, and richly textured. A special thank you to artist Donald Rainville for this painting which became the wine's label. Tasting Notes: With flavors of black cherry, kola nut, and cinnamon, this contemplative blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet franc is a harmonic fusion between old world inspiration and new world terroir.

Cheers, CW SOCIAL CLUB • Division-Villages, ‘Les Petits Fers,' 2019 Gamay Noir, Oregon. Absolutely beautiful Carbonic Gamay that has become an annual favorite of mine! Blend from five certified organic vineyards in the Eola-Amity Hills and Southern Oregon. Aromas of white pepper, fresh herbs and dusty strawberry, with a chalky note. The palate is mineral focused with cranberry, thyme and a peppery note distinct to Gamay. I just love the interplay of the intense fruitiness balanced by the overt stemmy spices, making for such a flavorful experience! The wine has an extremely elegant mouthfeel, less funk than last vintage, and is incredibly refreshing overall.
