Dr. Van Dyke of Pekin will be at GMS on January 25. GRADUATION All 8th graders will be fitted for a graduation gown on January 26. If you have not already paid for your gown, payment is due by January 26. Please make checks payable to GMS. Jostens will also be taking orders for GMS graduation memorabilia. Pay- ments for these orders will be due by February 3 and may be paid by cash or check. We would like to thank the North Pekin and Marquette Heights Fire Departments for hosting this event for our communities. Student Council sponsored the event and will be rewarding the following classes next week for their donations! 1st Place - 483 Items - Miss Long's 6th grade class, 2nd Place - 325 Items - Mr. Brown's 7th grade homeroom, 3rd Place - 284 Items - Mrs. Carver's 8th grade homeroom In total the students collected over 1,500 food items and toys for the community! MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. CHESS CLUB Chess Club Meetings will be after school until 3:45 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day p.m. in Miss Long’s Room (Room 229). The students gave stuffed animals which were donated to Georgetowne and lap blankets to all of the residents. They sang Christ- mas Carols and visited with the residents. STUCO went shopping at Walmart for the Toys for Tots campaign. They gave $250 in toys to the cam- paign. We delivered the toys a WEEK before returning to school. All together - the students gave over $470 in their service projects this Holiday Season. .
