Bathurst and Orange are the major cities of the region. The Shire forms part of a larger Western NSW region, covering more than half of the state, which extends from the Great Dividing Range in the east across to the South Australian border. The Lachlan River runs through the Shire with Wyangala Dam at its headwaters. The river provides town water supplies along its length as well as irrigation to river properties within the Shire and to the adjacent local government authority of Forbes and further onto Lachlan Shire (Condobolin). THE COWRA SHIRE The Cowra Shire is located in the fertile Lachlan Valley, covers an area of approximately 2,810 km² and accommodates a resident population of 12,970 as at August 2011. The major urban centre in the Shire is the Cowra township which is the heart of the region; having been a long established centre since its early settlement as a river crossing in 1849 and later as a service centre for cattle-grazing and gold mining in the area. There are also a number of small villages in the Shire, including Billimari, Darbys Falls, Gooloogong, Morongla, Noonbinna, Wattamondara, Woodstock and Wyangala. The history of these settlements is varied but originates from early mining and agricultural activities of the latter half of the 1800s.     Local plumbing regulators in NSW On-site plumbing and drainage compliance and inspections This document outlines who performs the functions of the plumbing regulator in NSW. Under the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2011 NSW Fair Trading is the plumbing regulator in New South Wales. The Plumbing Code of Australia is the technical standard for compliance throughout NSW. It is the responsibility of the plumbing regulator in each area to set requirements for inspections of on-site plumbing and drainage. Fair Trading’s area of operation includes all areas in which properties are provided with services (either drinking water, recycled water or a sewerage service) by Sydney Water Corporation or Hunter Water Corporation. This area of operation stretches from Gerringong in the south (the Illawarra), to Newcastle, Port Stephens and Dungog in the north (the Hunter), and west to Mount Victoria (Blue Mountains). The function of the plumbing regulator has been delegated by Fair Trading to local councils, county councils, or other qualified bodies. The delegation of the function has been accepted by local and county councils across NSW, with a small number of exceptions where the council declined the delegation. Young Department of Geology, The Australian National University, Canberra, ACT 0200; email: [email protected] Abstract - Re-mapping during 1994-96 of the Upper Devonian on the Parkes and Grenfell 1:100,000 map sheets was the first systematic field examination of this area by an experienced vertebrate palaeontologist. This resulted in the discovery of some 40 new fossil localities (mostly fish) at various horizons within the Hervey Group. Two new fish occurrences, in sediments associated with the underlying Dulladerry Volcanics, require an age revision from Early to late Middle Devonian for the termination of Devonian volcanism in central New South Wales. The age of the Canowindra fossil fish fauna is uncertain, but may be as old as late Frasnian, rather than Famennian as was previously assumed. Correlations across the Lachlan River are clarified, and a new locality for the sinolepid antiarch Grenfellaspis is reported from near the top of the Bumberry Formation. A fish fauna from higher in the sequence includes an antiarch with an armour 1-2 m long, of comparable size to similar material from South China, which supports a latest Devonian Asian connection with East Gondwana. Preliminary analysis of faunal content is used to propose a provisional succession of six faunal zones, to improve the resolution on the Late Devonian part of the macrovertebrate zonation for East Gondwana.
