RANKINGS • MTLRD ranks 8th of 470 WFTDA leagues in the world • Both A-team (The New Skids on the Block) and B-team (Les Sexpos) are ranked in the world’s top 10 in their category • The New Skids on the Block is Canada’s number one team, closely followed by the Sexpos in second place

HIGHLIGHTS • Montreal hosted its first edition of their international tournament, La Classique Georgia W. Tush, welcoming (Manchester, UK), (Texas, USA), Jacksonville Roller Derby (Florida, USA) and Gotham Girls Roller Derby (New-York, USA) • The New Skids on the Block participated in the International WFTDA’s Championships in New Orleans, USA, for the third time • Montreal beat Texas A and B teams for the first time in history • The Beast of the East 2018’s first, second and third place were won by the three Montreal home teams

6 BEAST OF THE EAST

Every year, MTLRD organizes a tournament involving 16 home teams from Eastern Canada: the Beast of the East. This year, the tour- nament will be held at Arena St-Louis in the Mile End over the weekend of April 27 and 28. It will kick off on Friday, April 26 with an evening match pitting the Montreal travel teams, the New Skids on the Block (A-team) and the Sexpos (B-team). Over the course of the two-day event, we expect to attract over 1 000 spectators, as well as over 350 players, coaches and volunteers. Therefore the Beast is a great national platform from which to promote your business or organisation.

For the second year, MTLRD is hosting La Classique Georgia W. Tush, an international roller derby WFTDA-recognized tournament. This event taking place on june 13 to 16 is a tribute to Georgia W. Tush, the Montreal Roller Derby founder and includes womens roller derby teams from both Canada and as far afield as Australia and Finland.
