It was not immediately clear whether the hack affected President Barack Obama, other senior government officials or the intelligence community. The Washington Post and other US media cited government officials as saying that Chinese hackers were behind the breach. But the Chinese embassy in Washington countered that such attacks would not be allowed under Chinese law. “Jumping to conclusions and mak- ing hypothetical accusations is not responsible and counterproductive,” embassy spokesman Zhu Haiquan said. “Chinese laws prohibit cyber crimes of all forms. China has made great efforts to combat cyber attacks in accor- dance with Chinese laws and regulations,” he added. The FBI and Department of Homeland Security are said to be leading the investigation. The FBI in a statement said it “will continue to investigate and hold account- able those who pose a threat in cyberspace.” Officials refused to assign attribution or motive, but pointed affected par- ties to measures that could prevent fraud and identify theft. President's Message They say that this is the new normal and I can’t say that I like it but it seems like things have started to improve over the way that they were. People are able to get out and about a little easier and we are now starting to plan for upcoming golf tournaments! The course is in the best condition that it has ever been and kudos go out to our maintenance staff and Superintendent. The weekends are very busy and the new tee time format seems to be working out just fine, I have heard nothing but compliments from all of our members. I just want to remind everyone that we still have to follow the social distancing rules both on and off the course. Even though we are now in Phase 2 and will soon be in Phase 3, we can’t let our guard down or we could suffer setbacks in the spread of the virus. As always, if you want to reach me to discuss anything, please send me an email at roger.laime@aecom or call me on my cell phone at 518-772-7754. Please be considerate of others, be safe and think warm weather. Roger Laime Treasurer’s Report June 15th, 2020 I want all of our members to be aware, especially our newer members that you will see a bunker renovation fee on your July invoice. And while we may not yet have a grasp on when things may “return to normal,” it has been quite a blessing to have golf in our lives. It’s one recreational activity that has adapted well to the safety protocols that COVID-19 has forced us to implement, and I offer a hearty congratulations to the many Troon facility teams across the country and around the world for their terrific efforts in keeping us all safe while we enjoy the game we love. For me, at least, playing golf has allowed a sense of normalcy in an otherwise challenging time. Professional golf has also seen a very successful return from its spring hiatus. The PGA TOUR’s young stars have been shining brightly. What a memorable win for Team Troon member Justin Thomas at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational! What an honor to be associated with all of our Team Troon members: Justin Thomas, Gary Woodland, Patrick Cantlay and Matt Kuchar of the United States, Alex Noren of Sweden, Matthew Fitzpatrick of England, LPGA Tour/Ladies European Tour player Cheyenne Woods of the United States, and our newest member, Golf Hall of Famer/Champions Tour player Colin Montgomerie. The last few months have made me that much more appreciative of all the good that golf brings to my life.
